John gets all the maps - don't know if he has to start from scratch 'cause I'm putting $25K behind Mamma for him - screw the gold... I left about half of it laying there - didn't need it.

I'm in Chapter 4 and I had most of what I wanted to put in the bank, but I went on an $8K spending spree - buying every stitch of clothing in the game. With Sockeye and Steelhead at $5.34 each at St. Denis the last thing I need is 'Treasure'. The big score at the Statues is still in place as well.
If you do need it - the Train Derailment/Lympany/and Braithwaite Manor Gold Bars respawn for John if you're running a bit short (for some reason).
Did you get your free Bank of Aberdeen Coffee Mug?
I requested the Fountain Pen instead - I can stab somebody in the eye with it...
;)
In my playthrough, honorable, John gets access to Arthur's Satchel, and thus, John has ALL of Arthur's Maps.
If Arthur leaves the Gold Bars at the final treasure site, then John can simply pick them up - i've done this already.
This works with the Statue Puzzle also.
And, many (if not all) of the Free Loot chests lying about will re-stock when John comes through - like the one in Limpay - and the Chest up in the east side of the Cumberland Forest Area (with the Bill Folds and Jewelry Bags.
It's pretty easy for John to earn $1000 just from the random Free Loot chests, and there's no real need for more since there's really nothing to spend it on - John Still Has to Take a Loan.
...that he pays back automatically by just finishing the game...
last time I was holding $10K - when I took out an $800 loan.
This time, I'll be holding $25K.
Seems pointless?
Yea, but no more so than the Epilogues themselves.
Pure Nonsense Grind - after the game ends in Chapter 6.
Yup.
Speaking of grind, I just finished the Exotics quest for the first time ever... ugh.
Definitely something i'll leave for wimpy John to do, but Arthur will help by leaving those fargin bird plumes and prob some eggs.
Finished the Fishing quest too - i did grin at the ending :D
I don't think plumes or eggs make the trip. I think I tried that once and it failed miserably.
I also think it was about that time I got pretty good at gathering almost everything beforehand. <---see it, pick it or blast it and stick it in the bag.
The 4th time was much easier than the 1st - for sure.
I got a bunch of good pics of Mr. Gill - the last one with his feet off the ground headed for the deep 6. - classic..lol
BTW: I hope you got Algernon's Handbill at the Post Office BEFORE you saved or loaded the game again upon completing the quest. It's bugged and won't show up otherwise. If you don't have the Handbill - you can't send Algernon extra Orchids you may have in your bag. <--- and it annoys me when I can't get rid of them. It'll probably annoy you as well.
He pays $10 each for those things, but less if you send multiples I think.
When I walk out of the Greenhouse - I go to the post office and get the handbill - then save. It's on an exterior wall opposite end of the 'weigh station'. Every post office has one - or doesn't if you blow it.
Greenhouse Trivia:
On 'Rob 5 Cash Registers in One Day' Day - Algernon's can be one of them. No money, No Body, but opening it rings one of the bells.
Was told by several that they patched that out, happy to hear that it still works..
So guess I don't need to put my theory to the test after all..
Honestly wasn't looking forward to doing it to begin with,
considering I do most of my grinding from the start of free free roam,
getting most everything accomplished before the start of chapter 3..
I'm an Arthur Fan - I am NOT a John Fan.
I mod the game so Arthur can do almost all of it and John only has to survive (actually it's me that has to survive) the Epilogues, tie up a few lose ends and watch the credits.
Then I can start Playthrough 4 and I 'm back with Arthur.
I have Satchel/Camp/Challenges done in Chapter 2 - except the last Bandit Challenge that requires the Horse Fence who arrives in Chapter 3.
You would think that the game would be boring after that - but there's still too much to do - 'cause now I know where more of it is - and am still finding new stuff all the time.
There is one constant in the universe:
Gambler 8 sucks some really nasty ass.
:)
John walks in with enough gold bars to buy Tahiti but still needs a loan. Might be Uncle's doing.
All of the gold bars you can get while Arthur, I would take the time to do that. The treasure maps too if you really feel like doing them, but you don't need to do ANY treasure maps as Arthur or John to have more then enough money for both characters. The reason I'd suggest getting the gold bars via puzzles and other finds while Arthur is so you can have plenty of cash on-hand to help out your Camp, as well as buy whatever clothes and weapons you want to have while you are Arthur. You also will want the trinkets and talismans as this will definitely aid you while you are Arthur. They will also transfer over to John. Pretty much the only thing that doesn't transfer is Horses and Money. Once you'd sold off whatever Gold you find, you can wait until just before The Chapter 6 mission “Our Best Selves" and then go ahead and leave you money at the Pig Farm after they knock you out and stash what money you had on you. Then leave it there and come back and get it as John. This helps because then you won't need any gold bars or treasure maps as John, leaving you with just plenty of cash to spend however it allows you to.
If you worked your way up to being John and find yourself low on money, then you can do the gold bar glitch at RidgeWood Farm as a means of farming gold bars.
In all honesty, gold bars are really nothing more than bling in this game..
In reality, you can make more than enough money with either Arthur or John from hunting/fishing & looting to cover everything you need in game..
It all just happens faster with the gold bars.
I know where they live 2 feet from the bank. I can literally catch 1 or 2 a minute for as long as I stand there (I've since found 15 spots wherein they're 6 feet closer from a Stream I can basically step over):

Reach Down, Pick Some Plants that are Growing Out Of The Ground, then Sit down at the Crafting Fire (me and my horse swill ONLY the best - Specials for Us, but we can brew and sell 'Potents' all day long at any Doc/General Store/Fence):
1 Potent Horse Stimulant = $2
1 Potent Horse Medicine = $1.50
1 Potent (Human) Health Cure = $2.25
1 Health Cure = $1.25 <--if, for some reason you loot a Lot you'll get lots of these.
One can also carry 50 pelts on the horse and thousands of assorted meats, fish, other goodies.
Anywho - when I ride to St. Denis with a 'Shipment' - I come out of there about $2500 richer - and didn't have to fall off a mountain 17 times or loot 1500 tourists that I murdered for the $.19 in their pockets to get it. It just kinda happened while I was playing the game and for some it's not a grind - it's just making a living minding your own bidness.
You can have as much, or as little Drama in your life as you want.
Once you find all 857 Quail Holes - if you can't put 99 perfect ones in the bag - you ain't doing something right (ANY Quail killed with Small Game Arrow will be Perfect when it hits the Satchel - a bug, yea, but a good one...lol).
Cripps loves him some Quail and you'd be surprised how much they come in handy on 'Give 30 Animals to Cripps in 10 Minutes' Daily Challenges Day - and that's worth GOLD, BABY!
Without even trying:

All 'Treasure' still in place (Story) about halfway through Chapter 4.
I have everything I really need (Online) and almost enough Gold to start throwing it at Gun Cosmetics.
Not too bad for a level 82 Turkey Buzzard.
:D
Note:
Online Satchel capacity not as much as Story.
React accordingly. <---Upgrade ASAP.
what about the statues gold? will it respawn as well?
