Bugged Legendary Longnose Gar

So, yesterday I caught the Legendary Longnose Gar, but I thought to call it a day, so I saved the game while the legendary longnose is stowed on my horse.

Today, loading back to my save, I was going to mail the legendary fish, up until I did not have the option to mail the fish.

Checking with the fish, that is stowed on the horse, the fish is no longer "legendary" but is now just a Longnose Gar. The map is showing that the Longnose Gar has not been caught, but my Compendium shows that I have captured the Legendary Longnose Gar.

So, what now? I tried fishing at the same spot again, either I am getting those Sturgeons or completely empty handed.

Sleep 72 hours to refresh animals and try fishing again. Also how about that compendium screenshot.

Look at the Log - look at the Leg. Fish Checklist. Was the thing sent?
(I can't recall what happens if something happens to your Leg. Fish - it should go back in the water - eventually - if it hasn't been sent)

Don't save with an animal on the horse and expect nothing odd will happen to it.

It's possible to lose a legendary fish from the horse via things like falling down a cliff. Been there, done it.

Should have really seen this beforehand. This is really odd since this was the first time that I had this bug.

The fish has been marked as caught in the log. But I haven't mailed the fish at all, so I am kinda confused at this point, but thanks a lot.

EDIT: Funny thing too is that after loading back into the game, the fish is now missing from the horse.

I killed a legendary bear, stowed it's pelt on horse, saved the game and left . Similar for me, the thing wasn't there when i restarted game

I would either check with the trapper to see whether the game decided to automatically sell the pelt to him for free, or, just try and see if the legendary bear respawns at the location to hunt down again.

EDIT: Related to my issue, but now legendary sturgeon fish is bugged out but in a different manner.

I caught the fish, mailed it but on the map it's not crossed out, the compendium acts like I never found the fish. Going back to the fishing spot, all I can find is Longnose Gar.

Just to mention that I got the legendary sturgeon before getting the legendary longnose.

That's usually the one I can't remember catching and am trying to catch it again. When I can't see it in the water I check the log... imagine that - I caught it already...lol

That's usually the one I can't remember catching and am trying to catch it again. When I can't see it in the water I check the log... imagine that - I caught it already...lol

I was fishing at the wrong spot in the end, so it's all good. Thanks for your help.
