RDR2 graphics settings keep resetting
Just bought a new rtx 3060 ti and I want to push it to its limits, but when I try to max out graphics for RDR2, it resets after I leave the graphics menu

I tried:
verifying my game cache
re downloading the game
disabling nvidia geforce experience
-ignorepipelinecache

Also my settings.xml file is missing in Documents/Rockstar/RDR2/settings folder

EDIT: fixed: I deleted \Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2 folder and restarted my game

*********WARNING THIS WILL DELETE YOUR SAVE FILE************

DELETE FOLDER IN \Documents\ NOT the game folder for steam that has the 120gb game

I have the same problem, it does not depend on which graphics accelerator you have installed, try to write to technical support, I have already done this but have not received an answer yet. This is again the developers screwed up something with the game client

disable steam cloud and rockstar cloud saves
load up the game , change settings and restart the game to see if it will work

make sure you are not running any system cleaner/optimizer or time machine/freezer apps on your windows

So I'm looking at the same card. This is what I have to look forward to if I upgrade to the RTX 3060??

Uninstall OneDrive. Probably it's syncing all the stuff in separate folder.

I had the weirdest dream where if I deleted \Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2 folder (the small one) it would fix everything, and it worked 0_0

I don't think it was the card, I was fiddling with ♥♥♥♥ I probably shouldn't have thinking it would just revert back to normal in the settings after validating game files, etc

SOLUTION:

Delete the rdr2 folder at C:/Documents/Rockstar Games (this will delete your save file tho)
Run the game again from Steam and when prompted, decline the cloud save option
go to settings from the menu screen and change settings from there. If it asks for a restart to apply the setting, you may need to repeat the process again.

This has worked for me after a million other ways, however it is still stuck at the Windowed Borderless option after restart. RG cloud saves are notorious for their issues and I think this stems from there as well.

Hope this helps!

Its prolly pretty late but I founded a solution that keeps all settings like u left them (Even windowed settings one so go the C:/Documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2 And you will find some folders the settings one right click it and uncheck *Read only* this worked for me perfectly and now i can finally play
