Story mode 2nd playthrough with mods for immersion
First off, this post has SPOILERS, so if you have not played the
story mode at least once,
DO NOT READ !!!

If this is your 2nd, 3rd, or even 4th playthrough.....
not knowing what you may, or may not have encountered....
This MIGHT BE a spoiler.

I absolutely love this game, and my 1st playthrough, although I did not
try and complete this game, at break-neck speeds... I did not take my time.
And time in Story mode is a fleeting commodity.

I wanted to explore
I wanted to fish and hunt

I also played safe when encountering "antagonistic" people,
whether in town, or on the road.
I wanted to build and maintain a high honor rating, so for the most part,
I was always trying to defuse any aggressive acts towards me.
In town and on the road.

Not this time around. (I's was thinking Clint Eastwood)
haha
Anyone, whether in town or out on the road talks sheet,
or looks at me sideways, I take an antagonistic and aggressive approach.
I wanted to follow a different path.

So I wanted to add a fair amount of immersion this time using mods.

My main source for mods I got from Nexus.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2

Almost all of these mods (80+%) will require the Script Hook RDR2
http://dev-c.com/rdr2/scripthookrdr2/

The exception might be those mods that require Lenny's Mod Loader.
(I do not use any mods that require this)

The Script Hook RDR2 and all mods that require Script Hook,
are all copied into the root folder where your "RDR2.exe" resides
EXAMPLE: Steam Users (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Red Dead Redemption 2)
(Read the specific install instruction on the mod page)

I keep a separate folder as a repository for all the mods that I have downloaded as reference.
(reference folder, initial download of usually .zip files)

My mod repository (D:\RDR2 Mods)
This mod folder is independent of the "RDR2.exe" folder,
and has no interaction with the game.

To install mods, I just copy those specific "mod" files and/or mod folders into the RDR2
root folder.

My biggest pet peeve was how fast time was in game vs real time.
"No time to fish"

Vanilla - "1 Hour in in-game is 2 minutes Real Time.
30 Minutes in in-game is 1 minute Real Time.""

1) Longer Days
My first critical mod was to slow down the time.
I wanted to go fishing.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/41

This has been great for just riding around, hunting, fishing,
without the day just flashing by.

Included config .ini file
day_time: The amount of seconds you want per game minute during the daytime.
night_time: The amount of seconds you want per game minute during nighttime.
day_start: The time the mod will start using day_time value. Uses values 0-23
day_end: The time the mod will stop using day_time value. Uses values 0-23

I set my day/night time to 30sec per game minute.
A bit excessive, I may change it to 15sec per game minute.

2) Hunting Wagon
The second mod, which makes hunting not only more enjoyable,
but also much more productive.

No longer am I bringing back one deer carcass for Pearson.
Now I bring back 3 or 4 using this mod
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/133

It does have some quirks, but you quickly learn and work around them.
This mod works well for large carcasses and large skins.

DO NOT put standard size pelts or birds in the wagon, they will drop out.
Put them on your horse. Whistling for my Hunting Wagon has not worked for me.

When unloading your carcasses and large pelts, if the option to
remove is not available, Open the wagon back door,
jump in and you can grab the carcasses.

3) Duels
Don’t you wish you could challenge one of them loud mouths in town to a
pistol duel, instead of just beating their brains in.
Now you can.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/500

I have used this in Valentine with no problems from the local Sheriff,
but I wouldn’t do in Rhoades. (they frown on any aggressive behavior)
Not sure about the other towns.
A video I made showcasing the Duel mod with some theatrics... lol

4) Automatic Greet Replies
Tired of running into a wagon or post, or even worse some local in town just
to say Howdy.
This mod automatically says Howdy if your honor is high enough.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/452

5) More Persistent Weather
Want it to rain more than 2 minutes, or a lengthy thunder storm.
This mod allows you to configure lengthier weather conditions.

I’m still tweaking with the .ini settings for an optimal setting.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/810

6) Stagecoach Robberies
Vanilla - "These 6 unique Red Dead Redemption 2 Stagecoach Robberies can't
be attempted until you reach Chapter 3"

Using this mod, you will have access to Stagecoach Robbery tips in Chapter 2.
These tips are indicated with a Wagon Wheel icon at Post Offices across the map.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/869
( I believe these mod Stagecoach robberies are independent of any mission)

7) Disable Out Of Bounds Snipers
Permanently disables the invisible snipers in New Austin and Guarma.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/877

8) Honest Brawls and Finite Response
Two mods in one handy download! The first "legalises" insulting and brawling
with people, so you won't become wanted for disturbing the peace or
unarmed assault. The second limits the response to your criminal activities,
so that you no longer face infinite waves of lawmen.
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/940

I have held off on installing this till I decide what configuration I want
to go with.

There a a few other mods I want to try, but for now these mods have really
added a level of immersion that has improved the gameplay for me.

I did try and load a couple of mods that require "Lenny's Mod Loader"
But try as I might, I could not get them to work.
Even the simple trainer.
(another discussion)

So share those mods that you use that adds that level of immersion into your
gameplay.
