With over 6,000 hours played on Stadia, Red Dead Redemption 2 fan asks Rockstar for character transfer.

After learning of the service's demise, a Red Dead Redemption user who had over 6,000 hours played on Google Stadia begged Rockstar to permit character transfers.

YouTuber announced yesterday's Google Stadia closure on Twitter immediately after it became public knowledge. The tweet included the phrase "No, you don't realize how severely pissed off I am," along with a screenshot indicating that they have spent 5,907 hours playing Red Dead Redemption on Google's gaming platform.

Honestly I think it serves them right for trusting a service like Stadia, GeForce Now, Xbox Direct etc. Games are at their absolute most fragile when purely cloud based. Bad idea to trust that infrastructure

Geforce now at least lets you play the games you own and you can use steam copies of a game as well (of course R* made a ♥♥♥♥ move and removed gtav/rdr2 from it when signing deal with google).

Meanwhile stadia was utter trash and you could play RDO with other stadia users only after buying extra copy from them. Same thing applies for many other games. Hence why it failed.

it is a very common problem with mmos.
if you play an mmo you can expect all your time/progress and everyone elses to be destroyed eventually some day.

some mmo games and servers.. actually most of them. have met this fate.
it is kind of impressive that some wow toons are 20+ years old right now.

anyone that ever got into an mmo and had the entire game wiped knows the feel.
