Legendary Elk location?

I know it is east of the station, watched youtubes videos on where the clues are supposed to be. Read articles as to where it should be. Yet I am unable to find the damn white ? & clues where they should be. This is online freeroam. Thank ya.

Start from the train tunnel entrance and go up the hill there.

The "Legendary Area" message should trigger near the flat top area, and then you should be able to see the first clue.

Sometimes, it is very hard to find the first clue if you enter the area from one side or the other - the "first clue" can be in a different location (depending on entry point), and some of the first clue locations are harder to spot than others.

Use Eagle eye also, there is an obvious yellow plume of particles above the clue just like on dinosaur bones and dreamcatchers

Yessir I've been doing all of that and haven't even received the prompt that I am in the area of a legendary. You've both stated what I have already read so I'll have to come across it at some point. Thanks again.

Legendary Elk - First Clue:

If you see any campfire smoke the Elk won't spawn. Ride about a half mile away, Save and reload that save then try again. Eventually the smoke wil be gone and the Elk will spawn.

Stupid question. If I do not get the legendary prompt on my screen does that mean it is not there? I ask just to save me some time as I've looked for a few days. I have yet to receive the message stating I'm in legendary territory at all and I've gone by the methods already discussed.

Sorry for all the questions for something I should be figuring out by now.

The message can be bugged - verify game files to be sure.

You can always use that map and ride to the first clue location to see if it's 'Glowing'. If it is - you're Golden.
