> Installing latest GPU Driver directly from NVIDIA or AMD websites to ensure those are up to date as these also provide updated Vulkan API Runtimes which are required for many games such as RDR2.
If your Win10/11 ISO / Flash Drive is older then Nov 2021 then you will want to ensure that your OS gets the latest Windows Updates first as well to get that all up to date.
As far as older specs go, this really shouldn't be an issue as long as not too old.
I've tried GTAV and RDR2 latest versions on specs such as these listed below and all working fine.
> Intel 4790K w/ 16GB RAM + SSD w/ Win11 22H2
> FX-8350 w/ 16GB RAM +
SSD#1 w/ Win7 SP1 64bit updated Jan 2020 + NVIDIA Driver 472.12
SSD#2 w/ Win10 21H2 + all 2022 updates
> Tried both machines (PCIE 3.0) with GTX 960 2GB, 1080 Ti, RTX 2080 Super, 3080 Ti
Like how old is your specs? Could you list them all please?
Can get 1080 Ti or 3060 fairly cheap now.
Its' an old Alienware 18
CPU: Intel intel Core i7 4700MQ
GPU: Nvidia 780M (no SLI, as the other card failed)
RAM: 24GB
OS: Windows 10
I'm considering an external GPU at some point, however, I really want the Alienware 51m r2 or r3 with an i9 and an RTX 2080. Hopefully, I can do some modding commissions to save up for it.
Laptops as old as that most likely don't even support External GPU.
As that requires USB Type-C with Thunderbolt 3 + DP support. You need a newer system, that's too old. A single 780M would be bottom of the barrel GPU to even enjoy RDR2, if it'll even run it. As it's not much better then Desktop GTX 960
You can get a brand new modern Alienware desktop with fairly recent Intel CPU or AMD Ryzen CPU + RTX 3070 or 3080 for fairly reasonable prices these days.
Or look on Dell website during the end of November Black Friday sales. But on many sites, Black Friday sales happen pretty much all November long.
Can't believe this is still a problem in 2024.
I didn't know people still use such a thing.
Like what for / why?
And even if you do use it, why is it running in the background at all times?
