[SOLVED] Finding legendary animals in free roam (and the Collector role), Red Dead Online

Hi. I am trying to take a sample of all the legendary animals in Red Dead Online. Looking at this web page https://www.pcgamer.com/all-red-dead-online-legendary-animals-map-locations/ it seems you can't gather all the legendary animal samples through Harriet missions? Is that correct?
It seems so when playing, because I have collected all the samples that on the webpage says "Harriet Mission", and now I only seem to get missions with animals I have already found.
If it is so, I have to find the rest of them in free roam.

I have the last days spent around three hours (effective time) riding around the locations where four different legendary animals are supposed to spawn. I have only found one of them. Do anyone have tips to find them/make them spawn easier in free roam? I am riding around the locations the whole day/night depending on what time the animal should spawn. I also consider the weather...and enter a new server every 4-5 minutes or so, to make them spawn.
I will also try legendary animal pheromones later if that helps...

Is it just to keep riding around these locations until one of them spawn? As I wrote, only one have spawned in three hours of looking for them...

I agree, they should have that option in the game, especially when it solves spawning issues and such.
It's good that it's at least possible to do, anyways.
By the way, I am having problems with all the collector maps also, wonder if solo session fixes that to...but that is another thread I suppose. :)

Collector is not affected by spawning as everything is placed and rotates daily(this might be why you have problems with the maps).

Okay. Well, I have bought every collector map and when opening each map it only says "This map is unable to locate any collectibles at this time. You may need to earn a higher collector rank to unlock more map locations." and doesn't show any collectibles. I have tried maybe ten times over maybe two months and it always says the same, with all available in game maps... Rockstar support only says that they are aware of the issue, but give no solution.

I actually tried the map you link to once, but found no collectible there. Just figured that the whole role was bugged, and have been waiting for Rockstar to fix it... If you have some solution, please tell me if you like :)

I have the rule already setup but gave up trying to get snowflake moose to spawn so I don't use solo sessions anymore except at the end of missions to get treasure maps.
Solo sessions are an eye opener for how the spawning should work but the constant session merging takes away from them so they are only really good when running a mission that you ignore(most missions also stop lots of things from spawning but not legendary animals).

That is simply a bug every player must deal with. It happens every time R* does an RDR2 update, which is approx once per week or so. To get around this bug you must go into the Red Dead folder within your Documents structure. Delete all files in the red dead folders except for any saved game files you have for single player. And you can also leave the key mapping file alone as well. Once the rest of the files are deleted, run the game and when asked if want cloud sync enabled, click no. Now your collector maps and metal detector works once again. Which will most likely break again next week or next month.

No hurry though, I have alot more to do with the other roles etc.

Hi again. I searched the web and found this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/RedDeadOnline/comments/posvfh/guide_how_to_fix_collectorbugcollectibles_not/ and to fix this problem with the Collector maps I only had to delete the file named Player in the folder which the image in the linked thread shows. This solved the issue (for the time being), and the game stayed intact afterwards. (no changed settings or so).

So now the Collector role is playable for me.

I have now acctually collected all the legendary animal samples for the Naturalist role, thanks to solo session. It went fairly quickly, but some animals were a bit harder and required me looking for them for a couple of hours in solo session. It must be meant for the animals to spawn like that. A challenge, but not impossible.
