Best Chapter in Singleplayer?
I'd say the valentine chapter is pretty fun, you can actually ♥♥♥♥ around with the town unlike rhodes, although I am playing with mods so I can get all the weapons at the start so maybe its not the best chapter for everyone, What do you guys think is the best chapter?

Yea - Chapter 2 is my favorite.
It's centrally located with access to everything you need right away.
Money - Treasure
Animals - Satchel
etc

Everyone is in a great mood - Dutch even encourages being lazy and laid back (don't get used to it). You get to let Micah Rot for the longest time and you can start the challenges 'cause there's plenty of time.

I am hunting like crazy for the satchel and the camp upgrades - it's a fun time.

I have:
Vermink rifle
Springfield
Rolling Block
Repeating Shotty
Litch
Bow
Cattleman and LeMat.
I spawn what I want and drop the rest - take that!

I don't care for Rockstar messing up my loadout with a loadout they think is better - so I don't give 'em any choices...lol

Chapter 2 for me also.
I like the Horseshoe Overlook camp the best.

Great location, Dakota river right near by with plenty of hunting.
I also like Valentine more than the other towns.

Chapter 2 and 3 are the best for me.

Chapter 5 is the absolute worst.

the last one... because this snoozefest of a game finally ends.

Hi, will the game start normally after the April 27 update?

Mine did - Vanilla and later Modded - now back to Vanilla for Online.

Running fine.

1 was exciting, I loved the idea of finding a cabin up in the mountains for shelter and look for food to survive, then setting up the plan to escape and the train robbery itself, I couldn't wait to see how that would turn out, how we'd make it into the "open world" out of the limited area and where we would go next. I got hooked on the game immediately, especially at the first shootout when the music kicked in... wow.

At the beginning of 2, I felt overwhelmed and it was much slower than the first one in terms of stuff going on because we settled down, so I can't say I was really hooked, but 2 is where I started exploring and discovering the world for the first time, everything was nice and cozy, good memories. What seemed like the most boring mission actually had a brilliant plot twist at the least expected time and place, then it picks up and it's intense.

Now, here's a question I wanted to post in its own thread. Did you guys also get insanely excited when you had to go scout for a new camp spot in a radically different looking region, then moving and settling down there, then getting introduced to a whole new town, whole new factions, characters and locations. It felt like starting a whole new game at this point, yet at the same time it was all directly connected. I was more excited than when I was 8 years old on Christmas day. This element alone makes this game one of my favorites, it felt like I was actually moving in real life. So exciting and satisfying.

Anyway, The Fine Joys of Tobacco was badass and had epic music, especially when paired with molotov sounds. Then, when Jack abruptly got kidnapped, everyone went nuts and teamed up, the drums kicking in, the ride to the mansion, the epic walk, the epic music, then when combat started I aimed faster than ever in my life in any competitive multiplayer game, then the second "phase" of the music when you come to the balcony... I had shivers the whole time. And icing on the cake, moving camp again, which brings us to...

Chapter 4. This one blew my mind, it felt even more like a whole new game. The city, the Italian mafia, the fancy party infiltration, the swamps, the music when you assault the mansion and when Dutch feeds Bronte to the alligator, then the biggest surprise ever...

Chapter 5. I loved the idea, it blew my mind, once again like a whole new game more than ever, but sadly, it was a bit of a waste of potential. I still loved it though. The ride back to the house, the music when you read the letter, reuniting with the gang, the assault with explosions and fire while crawling out, smashing open the door with that badass music that just screams "anger" and killing Pinkertons in slow motion, then finding out Arthur has tuberculosis on the way to the next mission and the music with the reveal... This holy trinity of moments is the biggest emotional roller coaster, radically different strong emotions in 3 consecutive missions.

6 was depressing. I liked the horror elements, it had great missions in it, I like the music when escaping Van Horn with Micah.

Our Best Selves deserves its own paragraph. It starts with the train robbery theme from the very beginning of the game, but this time the theme sounds very messy and tense with that clock ticking sound. Everyone is tense and arguing as you're riding through Saint Denis with the tense ambient music. Then, the music in combat on the train is even more tense, the music in the scene when that guy on a hill spots you, John getting shot, then taking over the gatling gun with the best part of the music playing:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vfutHtbnWfQ

Around 1:06:05, I can't even listen to this part of the music without shedding tears. Not even kidding. Crazy emotional part with crazy motional music that just matches it perfectly, Dutch turning against Arthur and Arthur dying as you rob a train one last time... it's just too much. I absolutely love the music, it's just perfecet.

And finally, Red Dead Redemption. Again, the music, specifically when you're behind the sniper, then when you get down from the lighthouse and when you escape from the camp through the cave with John. I honestly didn't like That's The Way It Is at all, I don't know why, but I feel like muting it when I hear it. I wish music choice was different in that part. The horse getting shot was another highlight, then the fight with Micah with the intense music. Near the end of the fight when the intensity of the music peaked, I was almost sweating and mashing keys as fast as possible. While crawling toward the gun, I refused to believe it was over, I just couldn't accept it. After that, well, I don't even need to comment...

The way the first epilogue starts immediately after Arthur dying was just brutal. It was alright, but the part when you defend the ranch was amazing and the music. The second epilogue was also alright, I liked the part with Uncle disappearing and the music in it, building the house and seeing it progress over time was really nice and the finale when the music kicks in was brilliant, especially the music here:

At 1:59:19, it's when you confront those 2 guys once you get up in the snow. I loved that and the music really sounds like you're avenging Arthur and putting an end to it once and for all. Just awesome.

Overall, if I had to choose, I probably like 3 the most, it was incredibly exciting to move to a new camp in a new region with a new town, new plot, new factions and what not. The southern atmosphere was great, I love the orange soil, the tobacco mission and of course, Blood Feuds.

I apologize for the disgusting writing style, I'm tired and it would take much longer to write properly. If you're wondering why I wrote this much, I love the game too much.

The game is just... too perfect. Yeah, it's driving me crazy how perfect this masterpiece is and I literally wish it wasn't as good as it is because it wouldn't be driving me crazy. I can't stop thinking about how they absolutely nailed it, mainly the moments I highlighted in this post. No other open world game has the feeling of moving that I described above, as well as the Chapter 1 feeling (the feeling of survival and looking for shelter, the setup and the way you escape) I also described above. Simply perfect.

After reading how I feel about the Chapter 1 stuff, as well as all that moving and excitement around it (see Chapter 3, that's what I'm mainly referring to), did any of you think to yourselves "I know exactly what you're talking about, I've been saying that all along"? I really wonder if anyone else felt precisely how I do about these elements which might seem completely "whatever" to many if not most.

I watched my friend stream this game before I bought it myself. Wasn't sure I'd like it - boy, was I wrong. I thought it'd feel tired and boring after watching it already, but I don't even want to leave chapter 2. I like slow games like this, and I like the character interactions. I think knowing the end already just makes me want to hang on longer and savor every interaction because I know it'll be gone soon enough.

I'm not a replayer, so this will be the only time I play this game. Might as well enjoy it, I think! And I like my horse. Mallow the mustang is a good girl (and so are Tahoma, Rusalka, and Buckeye - and the ones I sold, Barnaby, Titan, Ajax, Solitaire, Hardluck Kate - okay, I have a severe horse problem).

yeah I love chapter 3 as well, but the only thing that makes me dislike chapter 3 is that I can't use my weapons in Rhodes, which is kind of a shame cause I still wanted to be able to interact with the town, thats why chapter 2 edged it in my opinion

tbh. i was getting feels the first time i played rdr2 i had not felt in gaming since like, ocarina of time on n64, and half-life 2.
like "wonder" or "amazement" i had a very surreal gaming experience in rdr2.
i even got sick with coof when arthur was getting sick..
took it to another level.

it was like the "breaking bad" of vidya for me.
pretty intense. great journey/experience.
solid 9/10 9.5/10 game experience.
paid full price, ultimate, not even upset or mad.
unlike most vidyas these days.
