Can't pull guy onto train?

I bought this yesterday, am at the train robbery mission, press E to lift the guy, hold the mouse button (I think it's right mouse button, but even that tool-tip is counter-intuitive like nobody at Rockstar has ever seen a PC game before), it ticks up a bit, maybe 15%, and then I can't do anything. Can't move, can't figure out any other action and then I drop him and have to suffer through the entire 5 minutes to ride back to this stupid mission. (The checkpoint is AFTER him falling, why, why do this Rockstar?)

Is this game this bad on the console or is it just a crappy experience on PC? I was told how amazing this game is, but the story so far is tedious, the controls are terrible, and the pop up help is nonsense "Hold TAB to change inventory" (stood there for 3-4 minutes until I tabbed out to Google how the hell to put on my mask where I saw that it was go into your bag, find your mask and put it on.

But still, I can't get past this mission because I can't pull a guy onto a train because the controls are garbage. Help?

Spam the button - don't just press.
The more you spam, the more the bar fills.

there is also an option in the game settings for spammable key events.. to increase each of your button presses by like 2x,3x,4x,5x etc. makes it comfier if the keyspam events bother you. i think mine is set to 4x or something. its comfy.

Remember that.
You'll be spamming again to Move/Pull/Push - several times.

Keep an eye on the lower right for action indicators.
They're easy to miss in the heat of the moment.

Sometimes it is PRESS, HOLD Down to Complete, or SPAM KEY
