no sound

I just downloaded red dead redemption 2, and the audio is being super wierd. Its not that the volume is very low. Whats happening to me is i cant hear the score/music of the game, nor weather(like the snow storm at the start of chapter 1) Im only able to hear dialogue(like from dutch and arthur), Ive spend around half an hour trying to fix this issue but nothings working, Ive tried restarting my pc, relaunching the game everything. Any suggestions will be appreciated

OK, this is a very old bug. First of all, see if the volume is turned down or off in the sound mixer. To do this (and assuming you're using Windows) locate the speaker icon on your desktop bar and click on it and open VOLUME MIXER.

Then navigate to the game and see if the sound is muted or turned down there. If it isn't, then you really are in trouble. Try turning the sound up or checking to make sure that it isn't muted or set to zero from within the game. Good luck.

appreciate the help but this isnt my problem. The problem i have isnt the sound, my problem was I could only hear dialague(and not anything else)

Sorry for the confusion - at the time I was replying, I was also replying to two other posts and things got a bit confused. Yes, I can see your issue now. OK, check the sound settings (in the game) and see if the ambient noises/sounds have been turned down - I know this is the dumbest thing going, but its a start.

I understand the confusion this bug is simular to the very silent audio one. I checked the sound settings im currently in the process of redownloading the game. When i was checking the sound settings i didnt see a ambient sounds setting. but ill try this tip when its redownloaded. thx

There is one other possibility - a mis-configured audio setup. When you setup the game, you were given options for TV, Stereo Speakers, Headphones or Surround Speakers - this might possibly be the issue. Alternatively the problem might be audio channel related and the feed for the sound fx, music, et al might well be playing but whatever sound system you're using there may not be receiving it. I wish you the best of luck on this - it certainly is annoying, especially as ambient noise/sound is a major part of the game.

Additionally when you have downloaded the game, please make a backup for obvious reasons. You might be interested in knowing that the game in Documents > Rockstar Games > Red Dead Redemption 2 > has two folders, one of which is called Profile.

If you wish to save your settings for save games, that's where you'll find it, and the same is true of the key bindings. I posted a commentary elsewhere on the forum about fixing the broken Collector Role and that details this in much greater detail there.

you can try this :
go to Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2
Delete the whole file, but first your game need to be closed and also Socialclub is closed.
