Sure, to have an hugly game at 25-30 fps.
I bought the game, legaly, i have the right to play it at the maximum settings possible at 60fps without all the drops due to the drm. Most games does'nt have one, i paid it and i don't play online, i should'nt got a drm that ruins my game. Don't want o be banned, just wand a smooth game.
i prefer the old days where you bought the game installed it and then clicked on the exe file
They can DRM without requiring login to their R* Social platform.
The login to Social platform is completely unnecessary and only used to gather information about players that they can use and sell to make more money.
If they had a lower price tag, and used the "Login" as a way to fund the game, i would understand, but at the game price, i should be paying for personal privacy as well.
to actually try to answer your question, instead of criticizing you for asking the question... i have not yet discovered a way to bypass R* Social Club login without rendering the game unplayable.
Thank you for the answer. Have to deal with those drops so.
Or maybe:
it's there so you can find your friends and they can find you
Access the online catalogue - even while in game so you can see what you're buying
use it to report cheaters - and we all know how well that works (ok that ones' a joke)
or any number of other benefits as yet undiscovered or discussed. <---except some wild, unfounded fear and psychoses over a launcher.
When I pass a billboard along the highway - I'm not required to buy whatever they're selling, but if I'm in the market for a Double Quarter Pounder With Cheese - I know where the next one is.
Really - the device that could measure my displeasure (there's a song title for ya) with the launcher hasn't been invented yet. I simply don't care and it creates ZERO issues for me. NONE.
It's invisible at my house - what launcher are we talking about?
Does this game have a launcher?
Huh... go figger.
Companies want more than just your money these days for their product. They must also have your privacy as well. Definitely makes me miss the old days but even then you could see the creeping of the current anti-piracy culture. Such as the Sony Rootkit DRM that was on music disks. If you uninstalled their DRM it had bricked your PC.
Wrong. And Red Dead 2 proved it. Over 2 years after release since a viable and working crack was available. I absolutely despise the Rockstar launcher and I also now despise Rockstar as a company so do not support them. However, they did make their DRM security so strong it was impossible to play the game by non legit means. This in turn also meant that they prevented millions of people from playing the game who had paid for it simply for not being online.
Though on the contrary, if games have pervasive DRM features generally I will look for a crack. So as long as the DRM security is not good I think they lose sales just from being scum bags.
The impact from DRM in 2022 is minimal lol just sayin
Millions and Millions and Millions don't even know there is a launcher - or care. It's seamless and invisible.
Most of the problems come from folks trying block it - delete it - uninstall it - so it won't work and can't communicate through the firewall, or port, can't update itself or pass through the virus protection.... then cry 'cause they can't play the game. Their numbers are microscopic. The vocal minority. A Non-User Group - not worth mentioning.
A hill of beans is bigger.
You're right, except for the part where you're wrong, which is basically your entire post. There are AAA popular games that are still not cracked, and will stay that way. DRM protects the intial sale window for most games, thats the purpose of it.
DRM is nowhere near as bad as people like to claim it is. This topic is a great example. You have someone (OP) who knows nothing about DRM now saying its the cause of his problems. Based on what? Based on the fact that he saw other people parroting clueless individuals and now he does the same.
Guess what, games have been collecting info from you for decades. The only difference is now they have to be upfront about it or people throw tantrums. Thats a huge result of people looing at EULA or ToS and misunderstanding whats inside them.
Gamers like to act like they're so smart when really they don't even crack the average intelligence level of humans. Its rather sad.
