Time passing REALLY fast. Possible bug?
So the time in general seems to move weirdly fast in this game. But currently it's moving absurdly fast in-game for me and I don't know why. Ten in-game minutes pass in about 8-10 real life seconds, maybe faster. Rain can start pouring, pass and start again in the manner of like 5 real-life minutes. The sun moves really fast and so on.

I've played the game for 100+ hours and I'm close to the end, but this has not occured for me before. Does this have anything to do with Arthur's "condition" as it is towards the end of the game? Like it's some kind of intentional metaphor for how his time is coming to a close quickly? Or is it just something getting bugged?

I know other people have brought up the question of the speed of which time passes in-game before, but I haven't seen anyone mention it going this fast.

24 hours to 24 minutes each day. So technically weather can happen quickly.

Get a pocket watch (The Reutlinger is nice - if you don't sell it), make it your personal watch - open it and watch the dial spin:
https://www.reddit.com/r/reddeadredemption/comments/9u0oho/to_anybody_who_just_sold_the_155_pocket/

Slow down, Set - or STOP Time:
Native Trainer Reskinned
https://www.rdr2mod.com/native-trainer-reskinned-and-arrow-keys/

More Persistent Weather:
https://www.nexusmods.com/reddeadredemption2/mods/810
(When used with altered time - Trainer - Rain or Storm can last days... just like real weather)

My current count is ~5 in-game minutes in about 10 real-life seconds while standing around outside of camp.

there are points in the game when the clock is rapidly adjusted though - for example, after rescuing a certain gang member, whenever you return to camp the game will force it to be late evening - so, approaching at 2PM, the game will force it to be around 8PM when you enter camp, so you can have a party.

There are a few other examples of this rapid adjustment, but in general, the in-game clock does still move very rapidly compared to real life.

I've always considered the rapid movement of time in-game to be a representation of actual distances traveled - for example, based on the time traveled on the road, the camps are more like 5+ miles outside of the towns, instead of, as they seem, "just around the corner".

The world is simply bigger than it seems.

When traveling - fine.

When you want to gather plants during 'Dusk' - and Dusk lasts 8 seconds - not fine.

Oh it changes:

Slow down, Set - or STOP Time:
Native Trainer Reskinned
https://www.rdr2mod.com/native-trainer-reskinned-and-arrow-keys/

That pretty much fixes the time issue.
You can even set the game clock to be the same space-time as your computer clock.

Look out the window - if it's morning - it's morning.

good to know - i used the trainer a bit but no real need - my tolerance for bad design and buggy behavior has grown pretty high over 30+ years of PC gaming

24 hours in-game = 48 minutes real time (1 hour = 2 minutes)
Just like in GTA V.

Yeah, but right now it's faster than that. It's weird either way since 1 in-game minute being one irl second being a thing in the 3D era GTA games. But with GTA4 and I think 5 that was changed so 1 in-game minute was like 2-3 irl seconds. Feels like it should have been even slower in this game but I guess not.

I will check out these mods. I was wondering if they could have any issues when playing the story though? Or will weather and time mods not conflict with the story missions?

There are a few minor issues when you use Real or Computer Time... nothing major.

If you Pause the clock, the main issue is you can't access the tithing (donation) box in camp until you Unpause it - and if you don't Unpause it before you sleep - you'll wake up at the same time you lay down, but that's hardly a deal breaker...lol

It's funny, but the longer I live the LESS I can deal with developer annoyances like this. Maybe a few more years of it will push you over the edge as well...lol

I see, good to know. I don't have any intentions of pausing time entirely so that won't be an issue for me. I did actually have something that has to have been a bug which was that the game clock stopped entirely for no reason at 7 once when I was just running around doing random stuff. Time started again after I slept so idk what that was about.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

My eyesight is no longer the best and I need Dusk or Dark to hunt herbs effectively. I DO stop the clock at the magic herb hour for me. I also enjoy a good, day(s) long Rain/Thunderstorm. It's wonderful.
