What am I missing about Treasure Maps?

How in earth are you supposed to find the treasure location for a treasure map? I cheated with my first treasure map for the Poisonous Trail 1, and looked up where to find the location on the internet, and I don't think I would have ever found it by looking for the stone face in the game. The game world is so huge and the location where I found the map was nowhere near the treasure was found. Was there a hint I missed?

How else are you going to find it - on horseback - flat out, full speed gallop - at night - with 24 lawmen on your ass for shooting 9 citizens thru the head as you passed through town a minute ago ('cause, GEEZ! CAN THE WANTED SYSTEM BE ANY MORE BROKEN)?

It's gonna need a giant, 200 foot high blinking neon arrow aimed right at it. <---and it better have a handle on it so it can be grabbed as you go by...

For story mode listen for the wind chimes when you activate dead eye. When you hear wind chimes there is something valuable around.

it's treasure , hidden treasure , you have to find it, it's meant to be kinda hard, if it wasnt what's the point in looking for it

Yeah well most modern games give you a "treasure" map and then a map marker appears that takes you straight to it LOL.

kinda sad isnt it , its as if the kids today just want the rewards, zero effort ,
playing games ,

i dont want everything given to me ,

There's also the fact that in the age of the internet, it's kinda pointless to make elaborate puzzles when 99% will just google the answer, and most puzzles in games aren't even puzzles, just a trial and error exercise.

If you are playing Story Mode for the first time, if you find Treasure Maps it's best to just hold onto them until a later time. First you would need to learn the game world map quite a bit more to be able to look at a Treasure Map and know what area it is referring to.

To be honest though, none of the Treasure Map ending stash locations will net you very much in Story Mode. It would be better to go find all the Gold Bars instead.

But yea if you really want something in the game and not sure how or where; Google is your friend, it's all on there for you very quickly. I for one try to avoid it and use as a last resort kind of thing.
