Can't play Five Finger Filet

I'm using software on my computer that records keyboard input so I know for sure that I'm not "fatfingering" or missclicking, yet still I keep failing at FFF because the game in itself can't keep up with my inputs, the other choice is going super slow but then I fail because the timer runs out.

Anyone know of any fixes to this? I really want to do all challenges but can't get passed this one of the gambling challenges.

Don't just hit the keys as fast as you can because as you found the game may not keep up with the inputs, it's not a button basher mini game. Get a steady beat in your head and tap the keys along to it. If the timer runs out increase the tempo and try again. If you can't do it in your head get a free metronome app and tap along to it.

I should've been more specific, I'm not trying to go at crazy speeds or just mashing as fast as I can, I'm actually going pretty slow and steady, about one input per second, one finger only, can't even get past the basic "W-D-W-D-W-D" types.
