low quality textures

so, i play on high, but all my ground and clothing texures and some writings on buildings are very low res and quality, why is that? and how can i fix?

Various settings can affect that, but the biggest thing you should do is make sure that the textures are set to ultra. That's where everyone should have them unless they're really hurting for VRAM. It's the one setting that even consoles have at ultra, and it makes a huge difference in visual quality.

well, i have a gtx 1060 6 gb, i7 6700k, 16 gigs of ram and ultra was default at start, i changed because game was feeling sort of choppy

i guess i played like 5 mins at the start of prologue on ultra, so i dont know the difference between them. but right now the game looks like gta vice city

This sounds like poor resolutions. I only run at 1080 and it looks just fine. Anything below that does look awful, otherwise I dont know ive not had this issue.

There is a huge difference between high and ultra textures and the impact is very small, dont play with textures on high

This is no other thing other than TEXTURE SETTINGS. Just set them on ULTRA. This is not a resolution problem or any other setting. To be short, this was a poor choice from Rockstar, usually games keep good resolution for important assets even on low settings, which is not the case of this game. High settings here are not enough for major assets. But don't worry, 6gb of VRAM is more than enough for Ultra textures. I've done multiple tests and I'm playing Ultra with 4gb. It didn't impact more than 1 or 2 frames (and it might be a placebo)

my res is native 1920x1080 so i dont think its a res problem

Check resolution scale near the bottom of the settings page, make sure it is OFF. I assume you already did, but make sure the resolution size setting (near the top) is set to 1920x1080, and also try switching back and forth between full screen and windowed fullscreen.

I have also heard of the game bugging out and rendering near stuff like its far away (less detail), but I mostly hear this when zooming in with a scope or binoculars. I believe a reinstall or game files verification fixes that.

I run the game on High/Ultra with a few settings on medium, so... it's not me but the game. Even GTA V had ♥♥♥♥♥ textures and RDR2 is no different.
