Because of little things like coming across a gold prospector, watch him pan for gold, complain about never finding anything, see him finally pan a gold nugget, watch him do a happy dance, shoot the prospector killing him mid happy dance, loot his gold nugget that he so kindly found for you. Profit

I was standing there with $8K in my pocket and felt murdering a guy, taking an honor hit, for $25 just wasn't worth it... or very nice.

I watched him dance, then ride off. Seemed like the right thing to do....lol

Well ok.
But thats where i play diffrently
because the people in the game act so life like, then where there is a human choice it makes me act the way i would in real life i would never rob anyone or kill them therefor i dont do it in the game.

There's quite a lot of detail in this game that could be easily missed. When you DON'T miss them, it's a great feeling. People talk a lotta ♥♥♥♥ about Rockstar, but the fact that they care enough to add so much that could be easily missed by those that never stop to smell the roses makes them a hero in my book.

That's it right there...

I have no problem beating up on the people that need it (The Brood, O'Driscolls, anyone shooting at me, ect), but innocent bystanders get a pass. I won't even loot a 'Stranger' unless they're shooting at me for some reason.

Money isn't a reason. There's too much laying around for the taking.

I'm doing more of that now because I finished the last game with high honor from start to finish, so I'm enjoying to see how the story and interactions change with a low honor character.

I think its the "eye for detail" which makes this game a masterpiece, besides an astonishing main story and visuals. I felt the same way with The Witcher 3.
Both games are something else. Don't get me wrong, there are a ton of other great games out there but these two, I dont know......They are something else.

Somehow, its more art than a game. ;)
Rushing it would be a misdemeanour which should be punishable. ;)

I tried, but it makes me feel smarmy...lol

I get the Bandit Challenges out of the way first thing... I'd like to apologize while robbing them, but the last time I walked out of the police station in St. Denis, walked across the street and robbed a guy, then surrendered.

5 of those and that challenge was over... and each time I got most of my honor back for surrendering peacefully...lol

I love the Witcher 3, but I like how this world feels more natural, in Witcher 3 you 'know' it's a game with the amount of monsters, wolves and npcs needing help from killing Chorts to retrieve frying pans. I makes the world interesting, but not every realistic. In this, I remember I when I went in a self imposed quest to find a moose. It was one of the best moments I had in gaming, wandering around, finding people, hunting some animals to keep myself, sharing a coffee with someone in a campsite, enjoying the beauty of the places and unraveling mysteries of some places on the go, most of those without an icon on the map, just stuff that happened naturally.

@Kain
Absolutely. If you put value on realism, RDR2 is the one to travel with. :) The replay value is immeasurable.
Im on my second playtrough after playing on console, and I still cant focus on the main mission cause of the very same reasons youve already described. Almost 60 hours in and Im not even in chapter 3.....
Everything, literally EVERYTHING feels so ALIVE. Maybe thats the reason, why we feel so connected to this game because it reminds us of real life and feels absolutely natural.

Being bounced by a 6-pack of wolves (or something) always makes me feel alive...lol
