This should make you gain weight.
You might even get overweight, but then you just hold back on the eating.
@CANADA DID NOTHING WRONG
What the hell is wrong with you ?
Why the F would someone bring that up in a thread like this and then not even use the spoiler command ?!

Take some time before going further into the story to take down some Big Game animals. Sell or donate other types of meat, but take the time (at a camp-fire) to cook what Big Game Meat you have acquired. This will help out a lot.
Under-weight helps with Stamina and Speed while on-foot.
Over-weight helps you to pack a bigger punch in Melee and also take less damage when you take melee hits or even bullets.
Find most or all of the Gold Bars. Sell them at a Fence for $500 each.
Don't waste all your $ donating to the Camp. Just donating $20 every so often will keep them happy enough.
If you take down ANY Legendary Animals, be careful not to sell the loose parts from them to the wrong person. Always check with a Trapper or Fence when you acquire such items. Same goes for unique jewelry
Open World - Hunt, save some raw meat for yourself every night to cook.
Make Hunting part of the process - every few days once you get established.
Use Herbs to Cook different versions of each large Meat (right arrow in craft menu).
Eat 3 Pieces of Meat every day and get at least 6 hours of sleep per night = Average
Less sleep will burn more food.
