Race Horse vs Standard Horse
Do Race Horses have PRACTICAL in-game advantages?

I'm early on the game (chapter 2 I think) and Race Horses seems to be just as fast as Standard Horses; worst thing is that they tire significantly faster than the standard horses.

I already got the upgrades that increases acceleration and reduces stamina consumption.

think they just turn Slightly faster compared to normal or heavy horses.
but if the speed/accel stats are the same,
then it doesn't matter if it's a race/normal or a heavy horse.
that's what i think atleast, could be wrong.
Race horses are faster when you max out the stats. They are not really practical in the game though. A good war horse is the best type to go with in story mode. I actually really like the Shires or belgains for practical purposes. But for chasing missions a faster horse can be useful.

they seem to be able to turn faster at higher speeds, got to have some of that horse stamina stuff on you in case you need it to go fast longer

everytime you have to chase somone or something there is minute advantage of catching up a lil bit faster. They are really bad in the swamps due to being scared easily

It's about speed.

Horses in this game are simply player preference.

If you want speed and handling, get an Arabian. They are arguably the best horse in the game.

If you are heavy into combat, and you don't enjoy being bucked off your horse every time you are attacked by wolves, get a war horse.

Arabian and mustang are my favorites.

Arabian can climb some hills i just cant get on other horses + the handeling is the best and got okey HP and stamina.

Mustang for me is the one i ride to battle with, Maxed out HP and stamina and is just a beast trample eveything in path.

When you look at horse stats that one bar of stat adds ~0,6% extra speed only. Generally just use horses that you like visually and you'll be fine.

I once kept a Race Horse on hand to do the Horseman Challenge Runs until I found out you could do any one of them on Shamus's Mule - with time to spare.

Race Horses (and Arabians) are spooky, temperamental beasts that'll show you how fast they run, after they dump you to the ground in the middle of a pack of wolves.

Get a Brave horse.
It's fast enough.

Turkoman:
Turkomans are multi-class with characteristics of both race and war horses. They can be identified by their slender but agile build, and also their sleek coat. The Dark Bay, Gold and Silver coats can be purchased from a stable (or stolen from the Braithwaites in Chapter 3). They handle well, but can often be impatient. They are popular due to their fantastic Health, good Stamina and fast Speed. This well-rounded horse is great for most situations.

1000hrs on a Turk - and it's dumped me ONCE. They are a little impatient, and will walk off from where you left it, until fully bonded if not hitched, but once they love you - they're your best friend.

I'm riding an Andalusian (Dark Bay) often in this playthru:

Probably the bravest horse in the game and while the Dark Bay doesn't have the stats of it's Wild Perlino counterpart (on Roanoke Ridge), it is easier to keep clean and is plenty fast enough for anything in the game under a trapper saddle.

Fully bonded the Perlino's Health hits a whopping 9 - a cannonball couldn't take it out.
