1) use your words - nobody knows what you're talking about
2) don't shoot everyone - would you shoot everyone on the bus on your way to school? No, you wouldn't. Would you shoot everyone once you got to school? Maybe, but that's not how you play this game - unless that's how you play this game and in that case it wouldn't be that annoying for you. It would be fun.
Why not slow down?
Stop sprinting your horse from one location to another, killing it, and missing everything in between. You can speak to people, instead of shooting them - and listen to what they have to say.
RDR2 isn't a full-pants-down-deathmatch-shoot-em-up.
It's something else - entirely.
Play how you enjoy playing, its a game... thats what they are for.
LOL, would I shoot everyone on the bus on the way to school... If they were trying to eat me, punch me, choke me or shoot me I just might. The point was when I did slow down and try to do different things I still ended up getting dead quite a bit... Usually while I was waiting to see what would happen. SO, I was thinking about shooting first.
"Use my words" Dude... really
So I am in single player and I keep running into random things,
then loosing them when I die,
what do you lose? or do you mean "losing To them"?
that you get killed by the npc's/animals?
if it's the last thing: then practise makes perfect,
you think you are able to defend yourself like a pro when you don't know the game mechanics yet? no: you'll die,
untill you learn and get better.
wolf strangers etc..., so wolves that attack you? or strangers that attack you?
moving forward I just freaking shoot everyone..., then you aren't listening to the situation?
maybe they need help, other times they are ambushing you yes.
you'll have to pay attention.
so: Anyone else play like this? personally, no i don't.
i see what the npc wants or what is happening around me, and react accordingly.
so yeah i think that is what JuiceWSA means with "use your words",
cause it's unclear what exact issues you are coming across.
I remember playing Witcher III years ago, and how that game would let you sprint through town, shoving people out of the way in the process. You could just blast through that game, which was perfect for the typical gamer as they have zero patience, for anything.
In this game I bumped into a couple of people in a back alley by accident. Next thing you know I was in a fist fight. After that I was sitting in a jail cell.
Yep, Witcher III sucked.
But RDR2 does come with it own annoyance, bad porting and optimization issue, still the good outweight the bad and the ugly.

Arthur remembers them, even if Dutch doesn't. It's not that hard a concept to grasp.
The player can choose to play the game by those words, or go down a different path, but whatever path you choose - Wild Animals and Enemy NPCs still kill ya, unless you kill them first. <---not everyone is an Enemy NPC. Some need helpin and feedin.
Regardless, you'll not get any of it done, if you don't upgrade your stats and learn how and who to kill. Late in the game one of the Gold Medal Requirements is:
Get 30 Headshots.
Maintain 80% Accuracy (don't miss).
Without taking any Health Items.
No new player in Chapter 2 can actually do that yet, but by the time it's required it's as easy as falling off your horse.
I go to town with one of the characters and we get super drunk, entertaining but a bit long... I then find my self waking up far way without the ability to call my horse or access most of my weapons. So I start to walk and as I enter an open field 2 people gun me down on horse back, I barley manage to fire a shot.
I get back and decide that I need more money, I will try to hunt something, I get some pelts to sell and I get attacked by 3 wolfs and thrown off my horse... dead and -$10.00.
I then run into a random encounter that looks like a stage coach being robbed, so I walk up to it not knowing what to think... they start shooting. I manage to shoot the 2 bandits shooting me and I am told by the coach driver that he is going to report a robbery anyway. I am like awesome some loot! So I spend 5 minutes trying to figure out how to pickup and swap a gun off the ground and when I finally get it, out of nowhere, 3 guys on horse back shoot me dead. -$10.00 and the coach is now gone and no longer accessible.
No I would not shoot someone in town, but these random encounters, I am thinking about shooting everyone who comes near me because it sure seems to happen the other way around. Mind you, this is still early on in the game, the only bad thing I did was to shoot up Strawberry with Micca (not my choice) and I can't get to the $300.00 mark to pay off my bounty, so maybe that is why.
Most people do that before they start working the Story. The player isn't really ready to work the story fresh off the mountain.
The first steps are usually - Work On The Satchel.
You have to hunt to do that - and hunting helps build your stats - as well as your
satchel. <---you can't do squat with 3 slots and you can't Get 30 Headshots with no Dead Eye to burn.
You must work the story up to unlocking the Fence - so you can cash in all that Gold you've found... Until then you hunt to work on the satchel and you'll need to be on your best behavior 'cause you need a $68 ($78? I can't recall) Varmint Rifle - and you have to buy it. You can't afford Big Bounty Bills - right now at least.
As for your Character, you can actually do "Camp Chores" to help build your stats. You can SPRINT everywhere to build your Stamina. You Hunt and use Dead Eye to build your DE Stats and Health. You can do Challenges to add tanks to your Circle Bars. You need to be stronger to survive in a dangerous world.
If you take off through the story in Full Rookie Mode - it's not going to be that much fun getting your pants shot off every time you come up against what are pretty lame enemies in truth.
Late in the game you'll wish there was a 'Nightmare Difficulty' Setting, but there isn't. The game does throw more and more lame enemies at you, however - and that does make it more interesting. By that time the player is more absorbed into the World Game, using the Story simply to find out where it goes. Occasionally. While you do other stuff.

That guy is a cold blooded killer. He can wade into Hanging Dog Ranch with a Lasso and Hogtie every last one of them, put 'em in a big pile and blow 'em all to kingdom come with ONE stick of Dynamite - including the Gatling Gunner. His Stats are ALL maxed out. He's done every challenge and earned every perk, but just yesterday I was killed, eaten and pooped out by a Cougar I didn't notice until I was lunch - so danger does exist for everyone - if you're not careful...lol
If you get shoot on sight by 2 random strangers on horse with no hint of random encounter a number of things could be happening.
1 - You have a bounty on your head in that state and these were lawmen / bounty hunters looking for you.
2 - You antagonized them in some way - pulling a gun, bumping into them, antagonize via dialogue
3 - It was acutally a random encounter but you didn't notice it (can happen).
Stage coach being robbed encounter - know that one.
You kill O'Driscolls, guy literally tells you what you can do and what he will do - he will tell you company will write it off as a robbery and that if you can get into the lockbox you can take what's inside - boom shoot the lock.
When something happens it's normally that it's eventually found by a witness, but you should be gone by now, safe to say witness reports the crime only if you are the bad guy...usually.
So as others have said - use dialogue, not everytime you need to shoot on sight, react to each situation accordingly, and lastly...listen to what npcs have to say...
Only died a few times. Dead eye is so powerfull.
Wolfs can be annoying, they should react more to shooting in the air. It never works for me.
Cougars are the worse. Full bond horse will throw you off and you die from one bite if they catch you before planting some shots.
Robbing never works either, everyone is a badass out there
I usually dont like slow paced games that much but somehow in this one i love it. Its like meditation. Did nothing much else as hunting, doing challanges and sh*t like that so Dutch actually send Charles after me XD
When they get hungry that happens...lol
I return to camp with a load of meat every few game days, at least. A well fed camp is a happier place.
Also note:
Bring 3 complete animals to camp and get an Honor Boost. They can be any condition as long as they're whole. You can carry 1 medium on the trunk - Bucks of any brand are my favorites - and 2 smalls on the sides (a Duck, Rabbit, Turkey, Goose, etc) - you can also donate whole fish as well (I always keep a few of those in the bag and they won't rot in the satchel). If you can't fish yet - a small game arrow will score perfect ones you can see - or you can ride your horse through a pond and then pick up the dead that were trampled.
Whitetail Deer, for some reason, trigger Pearson's 'Crafting' instead of 'Provisions' - so skin Whitetail Deer and put the carcass and the pelt on the horse. You can sell the pelt, or donate it as well, or Pearson needs a bunch of Perfect Deer Pelts for your satchel - so make sure Deer are perfect and always bring back the carcass as well as the pelt.
Note 2:
If you don't have the Pronghorn Trinket animals will rot on the horse rather quickly. Put animals on the horse on the way back to camp. It's pretty easy actually. The place is lousy with tasty animals...lol
