For example if you have picked up 6 Cattleman Revs you will have to scroll through 6 of them in your inventory. PITA.
You can always have 2 for double gunning but after that, it just can get messy. You will have to go to a locker to sort them out from your horse so you do not have to scroll through them when out and about.
You'll have a favorite loadout - with weapons you have built full affinity on... You go into a mission and they'll put a crappy weapon you've never fired in your loadout (that you can't get rid of) loaded with REGULAR ammo.
LIke the Bronte Mission when Dutch tosses you a Double Barrel to replace your Super-Duper Semi-Auto. Don't get too close before that happens - just shoot the lock with your Super Duper from about 30 feet away - then let Dutch and the boys go through the now open door and you won't have to stand there being shot while you try to pick up your Super-Duper again...lol
On this, my 4th playthrough I haven't picked any weapon up I don't intend to use. I have 2 Cattlemans, 1 Scofield, and 1 LeMat for Sidearms. I have a Springfield, Rolling Block, Bolt Action, an Evans, A Lancaster and a Litchfield, The Semi-Auto and Repeating Shotties - and that's it. I've sworn off ALL Pistols 'cause R* is going to stick a 'Pew-Pew' (loaded with regular ammo) in your fist to replace your favorite Hand Cannon sporting explosive ammo.
So far, I know not to even equip the Litchfield - 'cause they're gonna put that Lancaster on my back, but apart from that I've not had that much funny-bidness going on with Mission Loadouts.
The moral of this story is - don't pick up any weapons willy-nilly as Arthur. If John needs a few weapons to get to 100% - he can buy them - later.
That doesn't make sense, because that would never happen, unless you made a quick switch to your bow before the re-pickup attempt.
I never pick up newly found weapon loot, unless it's some rare breed that I want to check out. If that's the case, I simply double-tap the TAB key to swap my currently equipped weapon with the one on the ground. I take a peek at its stats, then double-tap the TAB key again to return the newfound weapon to the ground, swapping back to my main weapon.
What I'm saying is, there is a zero percent chance that my bow is suddenly going to be swapped into the equation.
That just never happens.
Now that I think about it - I was at 6 Point Cabin fighting with that weapon and the game might have thought the bow wasn't the right weapon to equip in enemy territory (even tho the bow is one of the best, most versatile and most powerful weapons in the game). The battle was over and all the enemies were dead and not all that dangerous at that time...lol <---I still had to go to the horse to get the bow back.
You're right it doesn't make sense at friggin all... still happened. That's the point, he doesn't swap the *currently equipped* weapon. I had the damn double barrel equipped and he still swapped the bow/carbine.
He did swap the currently equipped carbine on my shoulder with the double barrel, then when I tried to swap back, he dropped the *unequipped* bow on my back with the carbine. Drove me nuts.
