While i agree on it last one week too long, tbf new players along with others had the option to get a full new set of clothes + a winters jacket free, while this event had lasted.
That's total bull.
I killed a Legendary Fox by LVL 10 and sold the parts to Gus, which unlocked ability to purchase a coat made from said Fox parts, from him. Now for newer players that would probably be a somewhat expensive coat, but still, it doesn't look awful...

But there are also plenty of warm coats and vests to get from the Clothing Stores. I'm pretty sure that a warm coat is really all you need. In Lemoyne and basically everywhere to the south of that, and east and west of that, it generally doesn't get cold enough. The game is odd in that pretty much above 34*F (1*C) you can wear the least amount of clothes you want and it doesn't make a difference unless the Temp drops below this.
This is what I switched to at any Temp below 50-60*F (10-15*C)

And yes it keeps me just as warm as the Fox pelt coat. Even at 7*F (-13*C)
When the Temps are above 60*F (15*C) or so, I wear this.

Not sure how the snow makes hunting any harder, oh wait, it doesn't.
Not one bit. It does make seeing some plant related highlights harder to see in Eagle-Eye, but besides that, not a huge deal.
Overall though I think RDO probably just feels overwhelming atm of a new player simply because they added things over-time and now you have too much to dive into as a new player. Not uncommon for those types of games that have added content over time. Veteran players are bored simply because they maybe started way back when many of what you see, such as the various Roles, were not there yet. So everything getting trickled into the game a little at a time. New players today; well you've missed all the Outlaw passes and also 2 Halloweens.
If you somehow don't know the map very well yet, then maybe you need to play Story Mode first.
LOL WHAT? TOO MUCH CONTENT?
I have NEVER seen anyone unironically say RDO has "Too much content" in any capacity quite the opposite.
GTAO is more important guys, no updates for RDO because YOU DON'T BUY ENOUGH GOLD BARS.
Thx R*
I'm only saying that new players might feel that way.
As again, when those who are now bored of RDO started out, most of what is in RDO right now was never there yet.
The're ICE CORE SAMPLES TO PROVE IT, based on concentrated ice density and, the presence of gas elements dating back to even the time period the game is based on. The duration of the snow in the desert and most area's are completely unrealistic, thus slowing down the player in hunting and naturalism. I still can hunt good in this weather unlike others, but it effects the health of my vision to the point I need to quit playing, just to wait to the end of it. I understand the pain others feel from it, I wish it was off and on a few days or a week then come back only during the winter to stay near the realism level so others would not have to endure it during the lengthy time period, if you lived up north or south near the poles, you have no choice but, to just stop playing and shovel it or prepare for a power outage, along with other vital real survival preparations....................
But indeed, I am tired of the snow.
That's true. New players can be overwhelmed with all the content Online provides. I was as well and I still am. It's not easy to earn Gold to start another role, so that will (if I don't quit) keep me busy for a long, long time.
I started Online during this "Holiday event", didn't have a simple coat to keep me warm and when the temperatures are lover you also need additional protection. So instead of earning some money as a beginner I had to spend all my money on new and cheapest clothes.
I also want this snow to go away.
Happy Birthday, hope you get more wishes come true beside that snow.
And enjoy the snow!
Just amazing that some folks are so bored that they have to complain about snow in a game! Simply solution: Don't like it then don't play it! Problem solved! Pretty sure there's nobody holding a gun to your head forcing you to play a game that you're clearly not happy to play!
60€ for this game is a pretty good reason to say something out loud if you don't like. Especially about an additional, pointless update, such as the snow in Lemoyne or New Austin is.
This is not a Free to play game so you can go with your simple "don't play if you don't like".
But, and this is quite probably the biggest part of the whole "debate", nobody at Rockstar reads anything posted in the Steam Discussions, so nobody at Rockstar is ever going to read a single one of these complaints! Which makes posting all those complaints aimed at Rockstar somewhat pointless doesn't it?
Absolutely nobody is being forced to play the game (or any game for that matter) if they don't like the game, so, if you're not happy then simply stop playing! Contact Rockstar and tell them you're not happy, tell them your complaints, give them your feedback etc which can be done directly via their website:
https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadonline/feedback
If you can't be bothered to do that, then why are you wasting your time by complaining here where Rockstar will never read your complaints?
As for the whole "it's not believable because it doesn't really snow in deserts" argument, newsflash folks, it's just a GAME, it's not real life!
if it's irrelevant now why are you talking about it?
