Or, when you get to the stable and see the old horse up in the woods somewhere - like when you stopped or something - simply "Retrieve" old horse. That guy that looks like he got kicked by a horse, rides out and gets your old horse - free of charge - old horse pops right in (that guy is goofy, but fast...lol). It's a feature of Stables and The Horse Station in Camp.
You can move your saddle from old horse to new horse, but that makes the old horse a Temporary Horse (until you put a saddle back on it). You can keep it at camp, brush and care for it, take it on hunting trips, etc., then sell it at the Horse Fence when ur ready for max bucks (still won't be much). Fully bonded horses are worth more than 'fresh' ones.
Note: If you create a new temporary horse, by taming a new one and moving your saddle, the old one back at camp will probably disappear.
The only way to ensure you keep all your horses, is to stable them. You can have 4. 3 in the stable and ur riding one. A temp horse at camp makes 5 - if you have one.
Never fondle a new horse I do not want to keep. That makes sense, I'm trying to play honorable for the perks, so I'm not stealing steeds.
The livery is the livelihood, I think I get it. Thanks again for the tips and advice.
Are you spamming the 'g' key to calm them once you're on them? I've tamed dozens without getting bucked, as long as you spam 'g' and turn them in the opposite direction they are bucking, they should clam in a few seconds or so . . .
Your Main Horse is identified by wearing the Saddle - you are allowed one Alternate Horse that doesn't wear a saddle - simply switch the saddle to switch from Main to Alt
However, the Alternate Horse (no saddle) must be Bonded to you in order to follow your whistles.
One way to Bond with a Horse, as others say, is to ride them for a while until they reach Bonding Level 1 - then they will follow you.
More simple, is to Calm the horse after you break it, and simply swap the saddle off your Main Horse and onto the New Horse - once Saddled, the New Horse will reach Bonding Level 1 instantly.
So, that part is simple - roping the Horse, mounting it, and breaking it are the hard part - but that's pretty easy once you get the hang of hit. Luck
That usually:
1) gets it looking it's best
2) shows it ur it's friend - 'cause that brush feels good.
3) recharges it's cores - and that's always good.
4) more often than not, that instantly bonds it at level one.
When I'm calming a wild horse, before I hop on it - I pat it a few times and Arthur speaks calmly to it... Breaking is usually over in a few seconds, then the horse gets the brush and some hay, and it goes: 'Hey, this guy is alright...lol
I actually brush and feed every horse I break - and that usually means riding to the stable to sell, 'cause it's usually bonded after a brush and feed. I don't like leaving a temp horse in the wild - it's no longer wild.
