I have all the ingredients, and plenty of money. But, it still tells me that I don't have the perfect bison pelt, even though I have it with me. I don't understand what I did wrong.

Leave it on your horse. Park your horse reasonably close, walk up to the trapper and sell him the pelt from your horse (it's in the 'saddle tab').

Awesome, that worked. Thank you so much.

I can't tell you how many carcasses I carried from my horse to Pearson/The Trapper before I discovered that little tidbit... makes life a LOT easier.

Also - there may be a limit to the number of medium pelts you can carry on your horse, but I've had at least 15 stacked up on his butt and haven't hit the limit yet...lol

It was weird, I tried that at the trapper that is in the wild, and it didn't work. But then, I go to the city, and it did, so I don't know. But ya, I agree it does make it easier. Wow 15, that is quite the stack :steamhappy: .

Out in the wild your horse may not like the trapper very much and move out of range. I suspect it's the fire... hitch it reasonably close, but not too close. HOLD mount/dismount, instead of TAP, and you can hitch up to a level patch of grassy ground.

In the areas I frequent - around the camps/around the herb locations/frequently traveled areas - I weed out the low-end animals immediately, taking the meat and throwing down poor pelts. As the game goes on the frequency of 3 Star Pelts increases greatly, when fresh ones spawn back in.

That opens up opportunities to load up with perfect pelts in a short time on the way to, or from, just about anywhere...

;)

Note:
When 'Culling The Herd', take 2 or 3 at a time, then harvest - or the game thinks you're just on a killing spree and whacks your honor. We don't want that, but the camp can take all the meat you can bring 'em, so don't be shy. You can then start moving the perfect pelts to trapper/butcher for $$$ - and donate a bit of that on each return to camp for another honor boost. $21-$24 is plenty and easier than doing chores...lol
