You should be cranking with your 1080.
Go here:
C:\Users\yourname\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings
Look for system.xml
Open system.xml, look for <API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>
Change it to <API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>
Save system.xml
When you load into RDR, change your video settings ASAP to something vanilla, Locked.
Make sure you've got the latest drivers too. If you don't, make sure DLSS is turned off.
Good feedback. What happens is your profile (system.xml) crashes the load, so RDR pulls your "last good file" from the Cloud. Unfortunately, in your case, it has bunk data in it.
You may need to go into your Social Club Account in a web browser and temporarily turn off Cloud Saves.
Try this:
1. Restart your PC.
2. Open system.xml.
3. In the line above "Vulkan API" there's a line that says "unlocked." Change it to say "locked."
4. Run RDR.
5. You'll know it works when it says you've signed on to Social Club.
So I did the following:
Un/Reinstall Geforce Experience
Un/Reinstall Graphics Drivers
Check for updates (latest version)
Now my game clocks at an avg 120 fps on high graphics
