I think I tried ALL the fixes for this game's resolution from reddit to youtube and all I get is a tiny pop up looking screen to play the game on .... srew this game I can't even get to play it .... thought it would be a cool game but I've put 3 hours into just trying to get it to play in 29:1 full wide screen with no success so ♥♥♥♥ this game

You just gotta go in settings to change resolution

Yeah, you can change it manually in the settings.xml file.

Sounds like you just have yet to change the in-game Settings yet.
Do this @ Main Menu > Story Mode > Settings.
DO NOT load up into the game world if you wish to change settings.
As you want to make your changes, apply. Then exit the game.
Then relaunch the game and play.

lol if it were as simple as that I'd have got it working by now ....I changed the xml file and saved it then made it read only and it still has a micro screen to play on..... the main menu settings don't highlight on any of the things I's like to change..... My video card works fine as well as my monitor for ALL of my games but this one.....also next week I will be getting my new monitor and video card so I'll see if that does anything but I really doubt it will. Anyone looking for a Nvidia RTX 3060xc , Seasonic gold 850 full modular PSU ?? I just ordered a ROG Strix 43” 4K (XG43UQ) and a Red Devil AMD Radeon™ RX 6900 XT I was really looking forward to seeing the RDR2 world's graphics but oooohhhhh wellll

FINALLY FOUND THE FIX FOR THIS. At least for me. Like you I tried everything, but nothing worked. What did the trick for me was setting the "Output Adapter" option, very first option in graphics settings, from 1 to 0. For some reason it was set to 1 and that didn't let me change anything. Now I can play on ultra wide.

No one needs to do this on Win10/11
Simply press WINKEY and type Graphics and go to Graphics Settings. Click Browse and add PlayRDR2.exe and RDR2.exe to this list and change Options for both to your dedicated GPU. Then launch the game.
