Try uninstalling Rockstar Social Club API + Rockstar Launcher from:
Control Panel > Programs and Features.
When finished, reboot.
Navigate to this folder:
Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2
Within the sub-folder \Profiles\YourProfileID#
Delete everything inside here, except for the following:
> Files that start with SRDR300 (these are your Story Mode Saved Game Files)
> KeyMappings (this is your custom key map file, if you changed/assigned any keys/buttons)
Within the sub-folder \Settings
Delete everything inside here, except for the following:
> settings.xml
Navigate to this folder:
Steam\steamapps\common\Red Dead Redemption 2\Redistributables
Right click each of the 3 files (one at a time) and click Run As Admin to install them.
Once finished installing all 3, right click your Steam Client shortcut and click Run As Admin. Now do the same for the Rockstar Launcher. Once the launcher loads up, enter your Social Club information and tick the boxes for AUTO and REMEMBER ME. Once logged in, change the settings to ensure the launcher is NOT set to "Start with Windows". Tick the option to suspend launcher while game is running. Exit the settings.
Now switch back to your Steam window and launch RDR2.
If you have an anti-virus, either set it to Game Mode, or Pause Protection before launching a Game. If it does not have such options, then add a game client and game library to the Exclusions listing of your anti-virus suite. For example; the folder in which Steam Client is installed. If your library exists on another drive, such as D:\SteamLibrary for example, add that as well.
I have followed all of these instructions exactly, and now the game won't even start. Then I tried starting it from the RDR2.exe file and then the launcher said "this account does not own red dead online" Help...
1) go to Story/Load game and delete your Autosave
2) go to Save game and save it to EMPTY SLOT (don't overwrite)
3) go to Load game and load that last save
It works 100% of the time.
