The Legendary Panther refuses to spawn

I have completed master hunter challenge 9, I'm in the precise location that the panther is supposed to spawn according to guides, and nothing is happening. The hunting location notif isn't triggering.

Did you at least see the question mark for the clues you need to find? Also, the legendary is not in the same place as the regular panther.

Legendary animals don't pop until you discover three clues.

Alright, let me stop you right there. I have hunted and killed every single legendary animal in this game already, as well as completed the legendary fish quest.

I know how to hunt legendary animals. I'm telling you, when I went to the legendary panther location, the notification for his hunting grounds did not appear, so of course I didn't get the clue question marks. He straight up won't spawn.

It seems like the trigger for completing master hunter 9 broke. So I'm probably going to have to use a save editor to force number 9 to uncompleted again and redo it and it might solve the problem. Pretty annoying.

If there's a 'Tourist' in his spawn area - he won't spawn.

Then there must be a bug - here's the newspaper to swat it:

... and, of course, If you're in Harry Fen - you're in the wrong place (seems to be quite a trend for googles to come up with folks being eaten by the wrong panther. AT LEAST get eaten by the right one..lol).

I was in the field under the church and no notif or icon was appearing on the map about the legendary panther was appearing. Regardless of if something was preventing him from spawning, if he's able to, that notif would appear which means the trigger just outright broke.

On another note, I literally saw a thread where a guy didn't know the difference between a cougar and a panther, killed a cougar, and didn't understand why he couldn't unlock panther in the compendium, he was so enraged and confused, probably because Juanitta told him they were the same thing "according to google" lmao.

I know well enough to know after killing every other legendary animal in the game that if you're in the place you're supposed to be to hunt them and that notification doesn't appear, it means they're not gonna spawn. I had to reset challenge number 9 with a save editor and I'm gonna try it again and maybe the trigger won't break this time.

I just wanted to see if anyone else ever had this bug happen to them. No need to get so uppity.

Funny, I just killed the Florida Panther. But no fr Gigachad cat just didn't wanna spawn. I was literally right where it's marked in the map like in that screenshot and his hunting notification isn't popping up. The trigger definitely broke, so I reset challenge 9 with a save editor and I'm gonna redo it and that will probably fix it.

You could have walked in there with Eagle Eye and found the first clue.

The bug is the notice doesn't flash up - but the clues and GioGargantuoMunchio are still there.

I did that for a solid 20 minutes anyway, but nah he definitely wasn't there because there were no clues even after making like 6 passes through the whole area.

Ah, I see you weren't using the Jericho patented big cat hunting technique. I'll give you this tip for free.

Use your horse like a radar dish. Set your map to expanded, and keep an eye out for your horse freaking out randomly in big cat territory. If it does, you'll see the red dots on the map in time to know which direction they're coming from. Dead Eye and pop those suckers with a rifle in the dome. If you get bucked from your horse it's okay, the big cat can't attack until you get up for some reason, so you'll be safe for just long enough to pull out your rifle and shoot it square in the face.

The problem with hunting from the ground is there's no margin for error. If the beast pounces you, you're probably screwed. From your horse, you have a good bit of extra chance, because if you don't kill it in time, you'll at least be able to kill it after getting bucked off, and if you somehow miss or don't shoot it in time, you then can also throw it off and try once more. Basically, being on your horse gives you a 3rd try over being on the ground. For most animals, yes I'd agree being on the ground is better, but for big cats I don't risk that.

Finally found a possum and killed it, went to where the panther was supposed to be again and this time the trigger actually worked. Have no idea why it broke last time. Possibly a memory issue as I had been running the game for several hours straight and that can cause scripts to fail due to memory leaks.
