Sometimes how quick or slow it actually gets dark can depend on what the active weather is like at that time of day.
I've seen some pretty good long lasting sun-rises and sun-sets in this game though.
I would like to see maybe 5 minute real-time minutes for every game hour. That will make each game day two hours in real-time. Which would also slow down the transitions from night to day, and visa versa.
The 'Twilight Zone' - when everything you need glows - lasts hours, not seconds:

Pause the game clock.
Problem solved.
If something annoys you in this game - there's probably a mod to soften the blow, or fix it completely.
Since it makes timeflow consistent. Cause for some weird reason it's not in the regular game.
not sure if the dlss causes it or what.
it can be hard to pinpoint whats actually causing it because sometimes messing with settings seems to resolve it for a bit, then it comes back. weird.
This. I heard rumblings it might be the DLSS implementation, but it still does it every now and then and I've had DLSS turned off for hours of in game play.
I can't use DLSS AFAIK - AMD Equipment.
I haven't played the Story in a while - can't say if there are any recent glitches with the Reskinned Trainer, but one thing I do avoid is the match to 'Computer' or 'Real' time.
That breaks the game - when camp icons go from Gold to Red suddenly and without warning. Simply Pausing the clock only breaks the Donation Box. For some reason it won't work with the clock paused. Let the clock go and the box switches on... it's weird...lol
I'm experiencing this "instant night" and "instant day" change myself. It's horribly jarring.
To be clear, I'm not talking about the length of days or nights, but the transition to night and transition to day. It happens in less than 1 second. From afternoon daylight to pitch black midnight - bam, 1 second; or from night time darkness to instant daylight. No smooth or gradual transition between the cycle.
Any fix? Or did the Devs abandon patch-work for single-player?
Also...didn't find any Youtube videos on this issue; so I'm guessing this bug isn't common?
Edit: found this clip, but my transition is even quicker and it's in single-player. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/GviIDF4ISWM
AFAIR, in-game time is tied to the frame rate.
That is, 30 FPS being the normal flow of time, 60 FPS being 2x faster and 120 FPS 4x faster.
This also causes faster core depletion and weight loss.
This has been fixed, according to a patch a long time ago.
