Tuberculosis? [Spoilers]
Started playing a month ago... just found out today that Arthur has TB! What the hell!? All this character development has been for nothing. Player a couple hours yesterday, and all the joy is lost in the game. He is going to die, there was no cure for it back then. unless they do something goofy and cause a "miracle." Which will still be stupid. ANYWAY... Its just not fun any more and I'm rushing all the missions now to get to the end and play free mode. The $20,000 I saved up was a waste of time. Story mode sucks now.

In my opinion, as much as I might criticize certain things about the game, Arthur's tragedy was excellently handled, and I think even bravely so. Rockstar pulled no punches; this is what being sick with TB is. That is, in fact, an essential part of the redemption of Arthur.

wrong. him dying makes the story soooo much better.

he was going to die either way, the whole story is about the age of outlaws coming to an end. better he starts dying from a disease and knows his time is coming to an end than blindly marching to his death.

I agree. And I think the story wouldn't have been nearly as impactful without his death. Dying of TB was the direct result of his own actions, but it also helped him wake up and see, take responsibility for what he had done, and vow to do things differently with the little time he had left. Chapter 6 is actually my favorite part of the story, and imo also the best, ultimately because of Arthur's conclusion.

Also, if you haven't done the 'Aberdeen pig farm' side-mission, let them steal your money, then don't go back for it until the epilogue . . .you can retrieve it then and give your character a jump-start after chapter 6 . . .

I'm on track to leave John $20K at the Bank of Aberdeen.
Of course, they have to be alive - unfortunately...lol

I have an old save from before I met them, just to go back once in a while and give them what they really deserve . . . a volatile fire bottle or 2 :sniperskull:

the game is called red dead redemption. arthur doesn't have his redemption until after he gets TB and realizes his mortality. it's necessary as a literary/plot device.

If he takes the honorable path, Arthur Morgan leaves the people a legacy that will redeem him. He put other people's needs before his own and earned the kind of respect that absolved him of his crimes. His death was tragic, at the same time a reminder to keep pushing forward. Today, TB can easily be treated. Back then, it couldn't, but that didn't kill the dream of one day conquering the ilness. Now, over a century later, we live free of the fear of succumbing to TB. By dying, Arthur helped the study of the disease reach its slow march to death itself.

Along the way, he was kind. Before he left, he made other people's lives better.

Now the dishonorable Arthur, that's a story for another time.

After visiting their Branch - best have something to sell - 'cause you will be broke and need a bath.

Their Motto is:
Put your trust in Mamma.
