Stuck in online at a stable

I've started an online account and now I'm stuck at the stable and I can't select to get on my horse and leave. I did the mission where you steal a horse and the two brothers give it to you at the end. Well I just jumped on a horse and headed to the stable. And they give it to ya. Ok well It won't let me select anything to get a saddle and get on it and leave. Now I can't get past this. What did I do wrong?? Was I suppose to take the horse I had to begin with and have the two horses with me or what?? Because I left that guy behind with the saddle and such...

You have to follow the onscreen prompts - hold keys, instead of press, rename your horse, get the insurance, etc - and if you're thinking it's a PITA, you're thinking what everyone else is thinking, but there you go.

You must get through it somehow 'cause atop Scrawny Nag is no way to play RDO.

As I recall I didn't have any issues, but I was also forewarned to seek out hard to see/notice onscreen prompts... keep ur good eye peeled...

I have and it doesn't give me the opinion to pick anything but meds for the horse. Not even insurance. Or to saddle up to leave. And there's no hold this key to do this or that.

Keep searching and reading until you do what you haven't done yet (buy a stall, perhaps?)...

(If you haven't verified local game files - you should do that first - then start doing all the other stuff)

I don't have an opinion to buy anything. It doesn't give one. Only to buy horse meds. Not even an opinion to buy a saddle. And I don't understand what you mean by verifying any local game files. I've got almost 500 hrs in the story line part of the game. I just wanted to check out the online part and now I see why I don't like online games and such.

Juice, your responses are not helpful. This is a serious game design flaw, clearly since so many people are running afoul of it, and the question deserves an actual response on how to get past it, not a smug "keep trying, you'll get it response".

This is a bug that happens if a horse that you've rode is nearby. It happens about 30% of the time. So until you have your own horse, you have to endure it. When you have your own horse, just make sure to make it Flee and wait for it to despawn before going into the stables. This bug has been about for like 6 months and they haven't fixed it. It sucks.

You need to buyy insurance, which is free, but theres a catch, you need to mouse over insurance and then hold enter, then it will buy insurance and let you buy sadle etc and exit as well.

right click your horse and make it FLEE.
Once it's out of sight, then enter the Stables on-foot.

In Story or Online?
Online doesn't even allow you to do that.
In Online to own any horse you must buy it.

what did you do to progress. same thing happened to me. I've tried everything from my side. it's tutorial mission bug if this happens it's gg. R* support just sends basic troubleshooting guides instead of fixing bug from their side. I gave up playing online.

Go to here:
Documents > Rockstar Games > RDR2 > Profile > YourID#

and delete all files that start with "P" except for ProfileSettings

Then launch RDO again and try

Make sure your saddle is equipped. While I selected my saddle from the menu, when I exited out it did not equip the saddle. Make sure there is a check next to the saddle (means it is equipped) before exiting out. I did not need to buy insurance. Once I confirmed the saddle was equipped I was able to exit with my horse. This is the online version.

Also ensure to edit the saddle and purchase Collector or Improved Saddle Bags. As this will allow you to carry more Outfits & Hats. I always ensure to do this and never use the standard saddle bags, which would limit me too much.
