Dutch's pipe request impossible to trigger now

he never stands on the right side of the tent facing the horse's at Horseshoe Overlook and at Clemens Point he faces lake mostly

This request was easy to get when the game first came out, now patches missed it up

I reloaded saves when you first arrive at Horseshoe Overlook and stayed near my horse feeding it etc watching Dutch to move between 8 am and 8 pm, to the proper part of the tent, and he never moves, only to sit when the chair is there to argue with hosea

I got his pipe request almost immediately after arriving at Horseshoe Overlook. I hadn't even walked up to Uncle to start his mission yet.

Sucks that you're so unlucky -- RNG is a beyotch. :(

I played for the last 2 weeks every waken moment and tried to get it, and all the other camp favors request worked except Dutch's

I'm going to re-install the game new and verify files after re-install

I deleted all Red Dead Redemption 2 folder from steam and by the rockstar launcher and in my user part of my pc,

Yeah it's messed up tbh. If only there was those "Save state" and "Load state" features which allowed us to keep pressing a button before we do a certain thing so that we can have either of the outcomes in our hands.

if you don't get him to request the pipe pretty much immediately after starting chapter 2, you may have to wait like I did in ONE playthrough til early in chapter 3 right after you finish "The New South". he triggered that request for me right after finishing The New South in that playthrough. It was very annoying, because he was often in the right place, smoking his cigar, but when greeting, Arthur would always and only say: You'll figure it out, Duch, you always do". every time I wanted to throw the kb/m into the monitor!

The 7.1 save won't trigger it. You have to play through Chapter 1 again to get him to trigger it. Hosea will bring you a cup off coffee and Dutch will start smoking on the other side of the tent. Then he will walk around to the front and stand where he is supposed to and you can get the quest. I also sleep a night and then get Pearson to trigger his Rabbit request and then save my 7.1 game. That way you have those 2 item quests done and don't have to worry about trying to get them to trigger your next playthrough. I have also triggered it in Chapter 3, but I'd rather just get these 2 things done at the beginning of the game so I don't have to go through possibly missing them in future plays. I spent a lot of hours on my 7.1 save trying to trigger it as well, big waste of time. Good news is nothing is wrong with your install, just need to play through chapter 1 again to get it to trigger.

even the thumbnail request triggered and I heard that was the hardest to after petersons rabbit request

You can try triggering it in chapter 3. I have triggered it there before waiting around all day like you were doing. Sucks, but might be a better option for you than starting over.

the pipe gives you a real good set of spurs, supposably the best set

I kept a save game just after the first train robbery, and when they packup to go to horseshow overlook

save game name is called who the hell is leviticus cornwall, that lock save rule is stupid

I got Dutch's pipe favor and Molly was in the tent, before Dutch had to be alone, hosea gave me a coffee and then Dutch went to the back overlook of the camp and then he came back around from the front and briefly said thing's are going to be good, he lit a cigar and stood to the right side of the tent, I approached him and his pipe request conversation kicked in

I saved my game after getting the pipe favor and backed up the save to my external drive

I was reloading the wrong save, all last week, and you had to start from the beginning if the request got bugged

The save game I kept loading was after you where at horseshoe overlook and you'd load either sleeping against a rock and Dutch would be heavy into his books and you'd be unable to find him to the front right if he was already reading
