cause we can start guessing ofcourse,
so listing what you tried can narrow things down for people.
but maybe this can help with the ERR_GFX_D3D_DEFERRED_MEM crash:
you'll have to edit the system.xml file.
https://steamcommunity.com/app/1174180/discussions/0/3145133120119602236/
and when i look in the discussions for the ERR_GFX_STATE crash,
at a glance i see no real solutions on 5 of the pages.
except trying to delete your system.xml file so it can be recreated.
1 discussion topic mentioned a user that had to do this everytime when the crashes started to happen, so it might be a repeat solution that you have to apply.
you can find your system.xml in:
Users\username\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings
best of luck.
I've tried...
- Run as administrator.
- Cleaning Windows DirectX Shader Cache with Disk Cleanup.
- Run clean boot.
- Switching from DX12 to Vulkan, but the game just starts again under DX12. (Most advice I've seen says DX12 is better anyway.)
- Reinstall the game.
I have seen other suggestions involving the Users\username\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings file location... but I don't have that. My RDR2 game is in OS(C:)/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Red Dead Redemption 2 ...and there is no Settings folder.
When I got the game on Steam, it downloaded the Rockstar launcher and when I load the game, it uses both Steam and Rockstar to open. When I open the Rockstar Launcher on its own, it doesn't actually have Red Dead Redemption 2, but only Red Dead Online. Could that be a problem?
Forgive my ignorance, but while I'm smart enough to follow instructions, I'm far from a computer expert. What is igp?
but pretty much every game has a different settings and game save location in your documents.
so look into finding your : Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings\system.xml file.
and "igp" = Integrated Graphics Processor,
every pc has built in video card (intergrated),
wich are just basic and slower then dedicated cards.
your nvidia 3060 is a Dedicated video card.
but it can be that windows doesn't have your video card set as Dedicated.
google for:
how to set a Dedicated video card,
or
how to change from integrated to dedicated video cards.
you'll have to do some research and double check on different websites,
but once you see multiple suggestions that tell you how to do that,
then start trying.
Unfortunately the crash on startup issue is still there, but it seems relatively safe if I restart my laptop before starting the game. If I don't restart, whether the game starts or not is in the "mind of its own" territory.
The dedicated video card settings did not fix the blurry ground issue, but what I did figure out playing with various settings, is that Nvidia DLSS set to Ultra Performance had the blurry ground and when I switched that setting to Auto, the problem went away.
All in all, if the most annoying thing to have a working game is to restart my laptop every time I want to play, that's not so bad. Still would be nice if Rockstar would figure it out and patch it.
