So, unsure of how this works- change outfits

Single player. I buy a new coat, I leave the shop wearing it. My old coat is...where? Don't see it on my saddle or satchel.

Related- I got jumped and beat up. Lost my hat. Respawn and no hat. Walk over to where it should be and no hat. Not in my saddlebags or satchel.

I feel I've missed something obvious...

When you’re viewing your outfits, say at the store buying clothes, you can save outfits to the horse in the menu on the left, up to three I believe

Just head to your camp and look for a place to 'Change Wardrobe' and it'll be there.

And unless you just found a random hat from an enemy, your hat that you bought or started with should be in your saddle bag under the 'Horse' Category'

The thing I was missing was using the weapon wheel to access it. Thanks though.

You can stay at a hotel, go to a clothing shop, or look at your wardrobe at Arthurs tent in Camp. From there, you can pick from a premade outfit or mix and match clothes and save that as a custom outfit - theres tabs at the top of the clothing menu for it. You can store 3 outfits on your horse including the one you are wearing. So youll always have 2 on the horse at all times. You can also store separate hats on the horse. If you drop your hat or it gets knocked off in a fight, dont worry about it - just go to your horse and reequip it.
