My game keeps freezing
Ok so I have about 24 hours on this game and all of a sudden my game is starting to just stop working not taking input and if it was taking input my screen would just freeze up and I would have to press alt tab to fix it but the same thing would happen a few seconds later.
Is this a common issue or am I the only one because its becoming more and more frustrating

I7 7700
16 gb ram
rx 5700

My specs should be more than enough right?

i think a lot of people are experiencing this after the latest patch. Hopefully rockstar fixes it soon. I've twice now gotten perfect rabbit kills for a challenge and lost it due to crashes!

I have the same, but i have the Epic / non steam version.
The last 2 patches did not repair it.

i7 8700
32 gb ram
Gtx 1080 ti

In ultra settings it comes more often i think.

Yeah it is weird because I just went on my laptop that only has a 1050ti i5 7300hq and 8gb ram and the fps is pretty low obviously but no crashes. I play on high/ultra on my main rig and usually get 80 fps+ so its strange that this is all of the sudden happening

Specs look good I think the problem is you bought a AAA game a month after its release it wont be completed for at least 5 more so...

Hello!
I've been having issues aswell but i applied some of the following steps below and the game isn't crashing anymore, hoping this might help you aswell, trying can't hurt at this point i guess.
I have disabled SteamOverlay. Running my graphicscard on factory clock speed. And lastly apllied -ignorepipelinecache to my launch options for RDR2 on steam.

Good luck! Have a good one.

This glitch is related to the latest Radeon Driver, disable the Enhanced Sync in Radeon Software.

happening to me and i have a gtx 2080ti
pschaknorris Dec 16, 2019 @ 11:52am
happening to me too and i have a gtx 2070s. But only after the last patch. One week before it was pretty fine.

noticed this in the patch notes of the latest nvidia driver 441.66:

Windows 10 Issues
 [Grand Theft Auto V]: The game frequently crashes.
NVIDIA is working with the application developer to resolve the issue.

I wonder if they should mention the same is happening to RDR2. I know the engines and stuff are different but who knows what library or whatever they are calling from GTA V, it might be the same as RDR2.

I've been dealing with the same problem everyone else seems to be dealing with, and it started happening when i turned Enhanced Sync ON, now that i turned it off, its back to working like it normally did, so HERE'S THE RIGHT ANSWER!
Thank you Leonardo. :cozybethesda:

Experiencing the same here, unfortunately. All the fixes that were suggested didn't do anything. Not even taking off CPU/GPU overclock, disabling all sorts of software running in the background etc. Plenty of users have these random crashes (there are plenty of threads on reddit about this.) and it seems to be related to certain hardware-software combination.. nobody knows the real cause.

I gave up on troubleshooting because i'm certain it's an issue with the game. Rockstar has released atleast 20 fixes alone just for different types of crashes. All the tickets i've sent only received an automatic response so far. I'm not sure if they'll ever fix this or atleast give a solution to fix it.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.
