Controls stopped working

On release day, the controls for red dead 2 on pc worked fine. There were no problems after i configured them. I set up my controls to be Hold down shift to sprint, tapping to jog and thats the same settings for the horse. But ever since Thursday the controls now have a mind of their own.

When i press 'W' theres like a 50/50 chance i will actually walk forward, sometimes when i just tap 'A' or 'D' i will continuously run either left or right. If i just tap 'SHIFT' i will sprint even if i'm not touching 'W' and if i keep tapping 'shirt' so i can jog that doesnt do anything. Sometimes I randomly start crouching and when i press 'ctrl' nothing happens.

When i get on my horse and the only button ill press is 'E' my horse will either go full sprint even though i never touched shift or will never go forward when i press 'W' but will turn left or right when i press 'A' and 'D'
But when i plug in my xbox controller, everything works fine except crouching is still random and my horse still wont go forward.

This happens both in singleplayer and multiplayer. Is there a fix for this because i know its not my keyboard. It's been working fine, I've played many other games since Thursday with no problem so it seems to just be Red dead 2.

This kind of behavior is usually a result of keys being stuck while transitioning menus especially if you're using shift, ctrl and tab. I dunno if that's your issue but when it starts acting like that, try pressing those 3 keys. Usually in games when you get stuck walking a direction tapping that direction key will interrupt the command.

I've noticed in this game specifically if I open a menu and then press a key too soon while it's transitioning, the key will not work unless I let go and press again.

Here we are in 2021 and still the problem with the Shift key for running! It intermittently works today just like 2 years ago!

I just bought the game and still on prologue and this problem still persist, when pressing W Arthur Will just do one step forward and when press A and D he immediately turn around...

No solution? :c My mouse and keyboard crash all the time, my Xbox 360 controller no longer finds connection to the computer when the game is open. I close the game and quickly the controller reconnects

I recently reinstalled the game on a new 3060 machine it worked fine up to midway through game and exactly the same issue as my previous Gaming rig. The above Quote is a great example of my frustration. another year passed and no resolution? ♥♥♥♥ rockstar. they favor modders anyway

i had the same issue. i turned out my usb hub caused problems. try disconnecting all unneccery devices and try again.

My game has been working fine up until two days ago, now I am having the same problem being discussed here. I reinstalled the game and still have the problem. No idea what do do now.

I have noticed when I stand next to my horses it will result in this error every time.
