You can switch from Vulkan to DX12 in the system.xml:

Change the graphics API in system.xml (settings) found in documents/Rockstar Games/Red Dead Redemption 2/Settings:

There find the line that says
<API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>
and change it to
<API>kSettingAPI_DX12</API>
or vice versa...

Start game... be happy (hopefully) :lunar2019grinningpig:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I played for about 3 hours no problems, even playing around with graphics settings.

I took a break from the game, then updated graphic card drivers (Radeon Software 9.12..2)

When tried to play it again crashed to desktop with error:

ERR_GFX_D3D_DEFERRED_MEM
and something about I dont have enough memory...

Specs:
CPU: Ryzen 7 1700
GRAPHICS: Rx 580 8GB
RAM: 16GB RAM Corsair DDR4 3000 mhz
OS: Windows 10 64 bits

Any one else with this problem?
could it be the game or is it something on my system?

you gotta make ur game run with directx12 instead of vulkan, that solved it for me
try to delete the Documents/RockStarGames/RedDeadRedemption2/Settings folder
had the same problem with the same card

Hey I get this mistake again and again if I try to play the story
I already tried like everything I found online about it.
I have a nvidia geforce gtx 750 ti and stuff I already tried is:
- steam settings -ignorepipelinecache
- deleting the sgas in the settings folder (they are always coming back)
- changing to DX12 in the system.xml and the game settings
- disabled the shader cache in the gpu settings (this helped so that I could play like an hour, than the game crushed again)

Can anyone help me?

That gpu is at minimum system requirements... do you have at least 8 gb ram? what cpu do you have?

can you launch the game and get into video options?

if so with that gpu you should set everything to minimum.

I would recommend set everythiong to default, no launch options, verify game files integrity...

in gpu settings let it as default.

What cpu do you have? what ram do you have?

This game is very demanding.

Could you check cpu and gpu temps while in game?

Sorry, I just saw that I have the ERR_GTX_State error. So my question isn't in the right place here. But maybe you can still help me?
I have 16 GB DDR 3 RAM and a intel core i5-3570 CPU @3.40 GHz

Now I didn't make it into the game settings before this error, but before I made it like one hour into the game without any problems before the error came

What are your specs? can it be as it happens always in the same place that the game uses more resources in that area of the map? leading to crash due to your GPU not having enough memory?

I found this, its in spanish but basically says to put
-ignorepipelinecache
as startup/launch parameter
