If it had very poor optimizations and lack of graphical customizations over the console variants.
So instead of RDR2 meeting the expectations of literally the rest of the PC gaming world, we all have to adjust our expectations?
Then are you saying the RDR2 engine is bad? A game is still a game no matter what engine it runs.
How would you determine if the port was poorly optimised?
Gsync keeps it smooth at 40 :)
facepalm. thats like asking why metro last light doesnt run as smooth as kerbal space program because "they are both games"
I want to bring this up to people in this thread To those want to compare the latest Version of Rockstar's RAGE engine to game that don't have as much complexity or detail and say RDR2
is "unoptimised."
RDR2 increases the details in the game that GTA V can't even touch.

Advanced settings that are locked are locked because they bring performance WAY down when you unlock them. try setting them back to their original setting and you will see a boost.

It's not a bad port.. Just bad systems running it. Current hardware can't keep up with RDR2 on ultra.

So you're saying Netharon is wrong?
Watch the videos yourself. RDR2 is very demanding and has many graphical improvements over GTA V. The second video shows in detail what the first glances at.
I totally agree with you here. My post that you quoted was NOT me saying that RDR2 suffered from those issues. I'm spending a fair amount of time explaining to people that they cannot compare this game to another game and wonder why the FPS is so much lower. People are expecting too much while they have the freedom of unlocked settings, along with very little understanding of what those settings actually do. Like the guy that doesn't understand why lowering the resolution and keeping all settings on ultra wasn't boosting FPS.
"It's not a bad port.. Just bad systems running it. Current hardware can't keep up with RDR2 on ultra." - I have been saying this in every post of people complaining. They just don't get it.
Why should this game be protected from comparison? Instead of RDR2 meeting the expectations set by every other game in the industry, we need to lower our expectations until this level of performance is ok? How low are you willing to go? What if the next game only can get 10 fps, but those 10 frames look photo realistic? Does that get a pass?
I missed the if and I see that we are in agreement. You can't compare RDR2 to oter RAGE engine games because they lack feature of the version RDR2 uses. The people don't even release that the console version runs at 30 fps while the PC version runs at 60 fps. You might want to point people to these videos.
