Fear of snakes

Might sound like im trolling but I'm not, I panic every time i see a snake due to my phobia. I know its just a game and they wont bite me through the screen but i really cant stand them. Is there a mod I can download to remove them from the game? I remember far cry 3 had a mod for that, but it came a while later.


If i dont go out looking for them are they avoidable? Are they easily spotted?

They are pretty rare. I came across a rattler tonight but they usually run as soon as they see you

Normally they're pretty hard to see. Most of the time you'll be riding along a road and one will spawn next to the road and put your horse on the edge and a red dot appears but you don't normally see them especially if you're not looking, sometimes I try to find them when I know they're there and don't have much luck. That or you're standing/running near one they'll bite you but you can just kick them and they're dead. Definitely no Indiana Jones snake pits. However I do recommend you try some exposure therapy. Basically you get comfortable/know you're in control and safe and in the ever so slightest way expose yourself to whatever your phobia is. I have arachnophobia and it used to be so bad I could be tired and almost alseep and just think of the word (no images or reason for) spider and I'd have to sit up for a few hours panicking until at some point I'd have to force myself to just lie down and panic there until I fell asleep. I don't really remember how I did it but I did some expsoure therapy until they didn't really bother me anymore even if I did think of them or saw one unless they got the jump on me but that'd just make me edgy but it really helped me out, right up until someone thought it would be funny to send me some choice pictures and now its back to what it was, and sometimes it's a part of our DNA to be afraid but you can lessen and improve your life.

It's probably more common than you think. Snakes can easily kill people and that's given people fears of them and that gets embedded in our DNA as genetic memories and those genetic memories get passed on through generations.

For single player you can wait for mods removing them from the game. In multiplayer you'll see a snake sooner or later - especially if you'll get collector role.

I pretty much just started and I wandered off the map it starts to get foggy and ♥♥♥♥ as you follow the shoreline of the lake then you see this like french industrial town but right outside it is a swamp land and it has lots of snakes and gators....trust me I found out the hard way walked thru a bush next to what I thought was a rock.....and BAM attacked by a gator

In my experience, what usually happens is that my horse suddenly gets scared for no obvious reason, and it took me a while to figure out that when that happened, a snake was nearby. Even once I figured that out, it was hard to find, and it disappeared pretty quickly. So, I think that the odds of actually seeing a snake if you're not trying to aren't high.

99% of the snakes I've run into were swimming in the water. So you may wanna steer clear of that? On land I've only stepped on a snake once and that was mainly because I ignored my horse's warnings.

Chances of you running into them aren't that big, but I guess having that chance in the first place is what scares you.

Don't feel bad. I remember a Skyrim mod going around to change spiders into bears so you're certainly not the only one.
