Story problems - Chapter 4-6
I finished playing RDR2, and I've gotta say this game is immersive and beautiful, the story really hooked me but from Chapter 4 onwards the story falls apart completely. It almost feels like the writers exhausted all of their ideas and simply said ♥♥♥♥ it lets destroy the whole gang and let them kill eachother.

Main/side charachters died way too randomly, the whole story about a "gang looking for money" doesn't hold any water since you're gonna be swimming in money. Some of the main guys only had few missions and with a lot of the people from the camp there was almost 0 interaction.

The story really hooked me in Chapter 3 when there was a struggle between the two families, I thought this could lead to somewhere amazing but that took a 180 and gave us nothing major.

Dutch was a unlikable charachter from the beggining always sitting in his camp doing almost nothing to contribute to the gang itself, why did the gang even followed him? All of his ideas and plans went to ♥♥♥♥.

Then in the later stages of game we have Sadie and Arthur attacking entire prison and saving John, completely unrealistic.

I mean the game shows a lot of its flaws at the later stage, and I wouldn't consider this game to be a masterpiece as many have called it to be.

The story has nothing to do with a gang making money that's just a gameplay element but rather the story is about the gang destroying itself from the inside out. The start of the game is the beginning of the end for the gang as they no longer begin to trust each other. After suspicions of Dutch killing innocent people in the failed robbery attempt Hosea begins warning Morgan (you the player) that Dutch is unstable and they should leave.

You are not supposed to like any of the characters at all. They are thieves, and murderous killers, and are willing to attack the innocent to protect their own interests. But in the end the game makes you sympathise with the main protagonist Morgan as it did Marston in the first game. It's a story of a man finding redemption for his crimes hence the title.

Linear story, to be sure. But still the best game I've ever played.
Maybe just because I love westerns.
Would've been even better if you could've said "Hey Lenny, let's rob us a train" and then done that.
Human nature, I'm guessing, to always want more.
There's always online.

About Dutch: he is one of the most wanted men in the states. That's why he moves only when is "necessary". It's an excuse but it can be an answer.
If you replay the game you can see how many Dutch changes long all the game, the same with Micah. In the first scene Micah calls you "Mr. Morgan", in the chapter 6 "cowpoke".
Probably you didn't noticed because you missed up this little details.
Dutch was the first to talk about honor code, the gang as a family to protect. Sadie was saved because Dutch wanted her safe, because he was a honor man.
For the same reason, he "adopted" Arthur, Jonh and accepted all other members. That's why they wanted to follow Dutch, probably you needed to interact with them/read the journal knowing their story.
Of course, Arthur wanted to stay with Dutch too. They have been a family for decades but when Dutch was falling, he was the first to say: "When the time comes, you gotta run and don't look back" to Jonh. Arthur stayed trying to save Jonh, his family and other members, to talk some sense into Dutch too. I think is clear in the last mission with Mary.
All members trusted Dutch but after chapter 5 they begin leaving asap.
It's not so true they followed him thinking only about money, It's more deeper.

About prison: It's a game, a story, it needs to be fictionalized but it's not so exagerate after all. How could the police predict them? It is setted in 1899. To be honest, Arthur and Sadie didn't attack the prison, they just infiltrated themselves to set Jonh free and they quickly escaped. They weren't only two folks with guns against a prison.
Your way to see the gang and their actions is wrong IMHO. They are all murderers, thieves, gunsligers, fighters, hunters... And all they are pretty good in their own abilities.
Let's imagine an FBI group which needs months to track down "few people" to be sure to catch them without risk. We are talking about the same "few people": they are extremely dangers and organized, only Arthur's head is paid 5000$: more than 130.000$ now; just imagine Arthur was one of the more meek member in the gang too if the situation was calm... As result of this, Pinkerton used him to try a first deal.
Sadie become a bounty hunter with great successes. They are not normal people, I don't think normal people could live that kind of a life long enough without dying after few weeks;
Indeed, Sean risked to be captured and killed many time. He wanted be an "outlaw man" and he tought to be good with guns when he wasn't, Arthur showed him the "meaning" of gunslinger during a cut scene. He died like a boy who was pretending to be a gangstar walking in a city like an idiot.
The same with Lenny: Arthur helped him when he knew about his plan (a side mission). Arthur knew Lenny was just a guy and he surely were going to kill himself just to dimostrate he was a true "outlaw" to the others. In fact, Lenny died soon too without possibilities to defend himself and in the same situation Arthur was able to survive thanks to his skills: Arthur was fast enought to extract his gun killing the cops.
Lenny and Sean were normal people. Arthur, Sadie, Micah, etc. were people with a lot of great skills (and luck) and they KNEW how to work.
