Massive FPS Drop only in Towns?
I'm getting absolutely huge FPS drops, but only when I enter Valentine. I'm able to ride through the wilderness on Ultra settings with not a single drop or stutter, but the moment I enter the main street of Valentine the game becomes unplayable. I can ride up past the train station no problem, but as soon as I turn the corner to the main street (with all the shops) the FPS drops to the point that it's choppy slow motion. If I turn around and ride back a bit, it runs normally immediately. Changing my graphics settings seems to have no effect whatsoever, whether it's the lowest settings or the highest. Anybody have a fix for this?

Probably the latest Windows 10 update. It screwed performance for many people in various games. Either wait for the may update or uninstall it

Could very well be that! Either way I also asked this question on reddit and it seems it could also be RAM related. Going to pick up a 16GB(8GBx2) and hopefully that will help.

Windows 10 monthly update break things again, look it up, its fairly common nowadays Microsoft keep trashing the Windows platform I think they doing this on purpose.

Control Panel>Small View>Programs Install/Uninstalls - Programs and Features>Look it up on list for a windows cumul... update that installed recently, sort it out by choosing date and time installed on.

Microsoft did hide the "uninstall updates" window deep inside of the GUI so people cant uninstall messy updates, look on Google for that because new Settings panel is a digital cancer so use Control Panel but in it look for uninstall updates window. Search it on Control Panel search box,

Search box>"winver" hit enter, this will display the window that your Windows 10 build and version number, if your on 1903 then you should be OK because I'm also on that build but ı also disabled Windows Updates so stability is ok, did not installed or downloaded any updates since a year now. If your on above 1909 or above then you most likely have the broken monthly cumulu..... update, I highly suggest look for the uninstall updates window because that will be simple to uninstall from on, search it in Control Panel's its own search box,

This video of mine will show you how to turn off windows automatic updates on Windows 8.1 but it should work on Windows 10 too, note that it only works pro versions of Windows though,

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRh0z9AwXes

Remember this path will lead you a very comfortable and speedy Windows 10 experience but your computer will also not be getting any security updates as well,

you can enable or disable what I show you at anytime though,

(remember to sort it out by date and time that messy update installed on, do not uninstall wrong update, (Look on Google for the recently buggy update names, they'll have names like "KBxxxxxxxxx" you can also set Google search by recent date and time by going into advanced settings)

That can be the either the source of your problem or not, so good luck,

The simplest way to tune GeForce graphics for RDR2 (no OS changes needed):
1. Use NVIDIA GeForce Experience Optimization - this is by far the simplest place to start
2. Turn down "High Impact" things that don't matter from the following website (like Grass Shadow Detail, etc.)
https://www.reddit.com/r/RDR2/comments/dsfy3g/settings_that_do_and_dont_affect_fps_performance/

While CPU performance and OS can interfere, i run a 1070 Ti which is failry comparable to yours, and vanilla WIndows 10 (with latest updates), and i do not notice any FPS drops anywhere. GL
