Why is it so hard to find a 3 star muskrat...

Spent the last day hunting muskrats and somehow only ever seeing 2 star ones... And to think I used to think hunting rabbits was hard.

The Spawn location is your point, where you want to work from, just like loot cycles they change, animal spawn more often, if you hunt them all in one place then, come back, its all about getting head shots with the bow, with small game arrows, if your playing online and got the trinket for better pelts you have a chance of getting a 3 star pelt if its a 2 star, I don't know about single player mode, I only played online mode. There is map guides for spawn locations, I know they like small rivers and swamps near fields and near bridges.

I also know if you do missions for madam Nazar like the poachers missions, you got a chance of getting 3 star pelts after taken care of the poachers, by looting them.

I usually hunt muskrats near the stream next to Emerald Ranch. It's always a random star muskrat but having the legendary buck trinket and headshots with the varmint rifle will help with those pelts.

How much 3-star muskrat hunting do all you rockstars do in online?

You can try riding away about 500 yards and coming back hoping to get a respawn. Or just remember the location and check back later. Lotsa 2's though, yeah.
