The new "Update" of rdr2
What was changed/added to red dead 2 after the new update? Now the game looks awfull, and the framerates are stuck at 20 fps. Before this new "update" I played the game on medium/high and low settings in 40-50 fps. And now I have 20. The settings were restored and I can't even make my old settings because the graphics limitations won't allow me (apparently, the game uses more gpu than before). This is the most horrible update so far...

i have a similar issue, game was running at silky smooth 60 fps before and now i am getting rougly around 50 fps with drops to 40 at seemingly random intervals

Update probably reset some of your display settings. I'd start with that

Update, i went into Nvidia geforce experience and hit the "optimize" button, it changed my settings around and even upped some of the lightning and shadows i had set to medium and now it works perfectly fine at 60 fps again. i think Mr Eminem above is right, it has something to do with the settings of the game.

I tried that out, and sadly it didn't worked :( I will uninstall and install the game again, to see if it will fix something. Thanks for taking your time to reply, kind strangers!

I noticed that setting textures to Ultra takes up way more memory than it used to suddenly, which would be something I could live with if they didn't for some reason make the High textures setting borderline PS2 era tier.

I played on medium textures and the game looked very nice. Now I can't play on medium anymore because of the new gpu limitations....

Did what I said. Uninstall and install the game again. Not a thing changed. I might delete it and not come back afterwards.
I would not waste time uninstalling the game and reinstalling if the core conflict of your primary issues are with Video settings, just like any newer game, they update GPU driver software options for games that the manufactures or groups associated with the prefixed archive 3D settings by testers, along with knowing their is a larger processing load on your GPU and CPU for processing more information and other hardware getting impacted. I notice I had to fix my settings being reset to an unexpectable, mathmatical parameters, based on my hardware software restrictions.
We all have different computer specifications, no settings will ever be universal to the community of PC gaming.
When we also update our Gpu drivers, the manufactures generally improve the architecture of their software and unlock restrictions for newer GPU's and hardware that use the same driver and with improving performance for the base settings, some people update their GPU driver and don't set back settings on their game not knowing their computer is trying to process a higher load value, or unsupported software options that can break older GPU's if you don't reset your video settings and play with the settings for hours to tweak them for a reasonable result.

Reinstaling the game is not an issue for me. I can literally install the game in 30-40 mins. The problem is that the game is broken. MY GPU drivers are up to date, everything is normal, just like before. As I said, I think that the problem lies in the game somewhere, wich is something not me nor you can solve. I saw a huge playerbase having the same problem as I do on cutting edge rigs. We will see if rockstar will adress this problem, and I am sure they will. Until I hear that they solved it, it makes no sense for me to keep the game on my hardware. With the 120 gb that this game occupies, I can install another 3 or 4 games to play :D

Since the update, the game crashes about two minutes after loading, or if I interact with my horse, whichever happens first.
I tried lowering the graphic settings, but that didn't help.

Seems like this game gets progressivly worse and worse after every new update.

Without pointing a finger at that, which makes it appear, and there is a reason for it..

One could, look back and see how the gaming industry has constantly "pushed" the need for a better gpu, since the beginning of computers and that which is "virtual"

10 go to 20

But even then...

I don't think you get it, which you should...

but...

If, you are young enough... you WILL see it... ( i guarantee)

Gaming, which, will be you, in every way...
The holographic imaging of YOU, in game, is coming...

But in order to get there, YOU must pay the way, a little here, a little there...

I don't think that the meaning of this issue is this deep :)
This problem will definetely be fixed by rockstar soon enough. I am not despairing, I have played this game for almost 360 hours, and a small break from it won't be bad, to be able to test other games, too.
