Game crash on story missions
I can't seem to load the mission for The Hanging of Tom Davies. Almost every time I get past the player ready screen the game locks up and stops responding before I even get to the cinematic. I only managed to get into the mission once and it froze up when I had to reload it due to too many player deaths in mission. Anyone else have problems with this or other missions? Are there any fixes?

Could be the spec of your pc,did you try open game while setting is on low?

I finally got the mission working, thanks for the reply! I ended up reinstalling my video driver and shut down the pc and came back later and restarted. I figured it was a hail mary pass but it worked. I'm guessing it had to do with my driver. Funny though I never had this trouble on other missions. I upgraded to a 3070 last week and did a few missions with no problem but for some reason had issues yesterday. Hopefully my improved luck holds out.

Ugh, okay so it did it again when I did the next story mission. I wonder what is going on.
probably there are some files missing
go to steam library, then right click and go to properties
and then go to local data check your game for errors (middle one)

I did that yesterday and it did not fix anything. I should mention it crashes during the cut scene before players ready up, usually. Today it crashed once so I turned off Vsync then it worked fine. I turned it back on after the mission. I just completed the main story so hopefully I will not have these issues when doing other cut scene missions.

Hey same for me mate, got a 3080 with a new pc all working just fine. But just recently I got stuff like textures not loading, story missions endless loading and now crashes, if they do load.
Game runs on a SSD and like I said pc is new and runs every new game just fine. Vram usage is okay I get around 90 fps on ultra.

I noticed tho that I get further into cutscences if I let the game idle a bit before starting it before the crash happens. Maybe u can let the game run 5 mins while cooking coffee or something and try again? Idk why that is an issue tho.

game crash on online as well, if i'm on my windows boot it will crash my entire pc and lock the power and reset button while fans are blowing on full speed, this is most often happening with bad handling of power draw and gpu graphics drivers, but this only happens with this game.

on my linux boot (same pc) it crashes only the game and gives me an GFX err message, which again leads to a bad graphics handling between the game and the graphics drivers.

i prefer to play this on linux since on windows the whole system crashes and it feels like it's not healthy for the pc, where as on linux the whole system still seems healthy after the crash.

but there is no doubt that this is an issue within the game it self and the way it handles graphics and runs with drivers.
this issue will persist untill rockstar fixes it, which i think might not actually ever happen, at least i've never heard of such a thing unless the issue is happening for EVERYONE, which in this case it dosnt.

Today I had it crash while just out roaming around. I saw the same error that people are getting regarding their nvidia graphics cards and it leads me to believe it is the current driver. I did not have this problem until after my card upgrade and driver installation. I did what others have done and rolled back the driver until they fix and release a new one. I rather it be a driver issue, meaning there is a chance it will be fixed, but if it is on Rockstar's end I would not hold my breathe.

My Game crashed randomly for a while when i figured it was DirectX causing it fixed it by Reinstalling my OS. But idk if it will help you.
