Lock-on in Online?
Is there a lock-on mode in online like there is in story mode? I was thinking of trying out Online but I don't wanna use aim assist, and it'll be a huge pain to play without while others are using it.

You can join sessions with it turned off. Turn it off on options.

Aim-assist exits online for players who use console controllers.
You can turn this off, but other players in your secession can still have it turned on.

So people using mouse and keyboard can't use it? And how strong is it? Like, if you fire slightly off it hits, or is it quite a large radius it corrects for you?

It's amazing. I got sick of being headshot in .3 seconds over and over so I bought a controller.
Game is way better for me now with it.

They think you're talking about target lock. I don't know how strong it is or whether you can use it with a mouse. It's there in your control settings but I wouldn't worry about it unless you're planning to do a lot of pvp modes.

All of this can be changed in settings and if you turn aim assist off you'll (probably) be dropped into sessions with aim assist disabled.
This is why I think dedicated servers would be great. Or even a session info window so you can see if you're in an aim assist session or not.
I play with a controller and aim assist, but I totally get people not wanting it because if you're not using it other players effectively have an aimbot they can use.
Although if I'm getting grief from other players I usually just dynamite them. Like earlier, I was running collectables, came up on another player, said hi to them over voice chat, got some kid literally saying "blue blue blee blee blahh blahh" back, waved at them and their posse member showed up. They fired one arrow and missed, then wounded me with the second (at this point I had a stick of dynamite out and was behind an open door, they were just outside) I tossed the stick out, blew both of them up and they started shouting insults, I then left the session.

Unless you're doing PvP of PvP events then aim assist isn't a huge thing to worry about.
Dynamite arrows also work a charm.

There's no setting for it on keyboard. Don't stress about controller users. The auto-aim is so heavy in this game they're probably aiming at anything other than you. If it's a guy behind a log, that's who they're aiming at.

Altho if you don't disable them for controller (while using mouse and keyboard) you loose on the 20 xp of "free aim" and the possibility of joining free aim only lobbies.

I'm 99.9% sure Free-Aim Lobbies don't exist anymore.

Probably.

Aim assist in RDR2 with controller is pretty broken for close to mid ranged fights. For long range sniping fights, using a mouse is far superior.

They don't. I looked into before buying a controller because I didn't want to use one or fork over the money for it.
But for whatever reason they are gone.

False.

Free aim lobbies do not exist for RDO, it's purely a GTA online thing for whatever reason.
