Any advice on hunting rabbits?
I am getting really annoyed at the fact that rabbits seem to be the hardest thing to hunt. You can't sneak up on the little f**kers and getting them from horseback seems almost impossible even with a full dead eye. Anyone?

Use blending tonic and just track them on foot. Also pay attention to the quality of rabbit when hovering on it's track, only go after 3 stars (i assume it's for a challenge or some clothing in sp)

Just ride on road until you see rabbits, either pistol them or get off and track. Crouch so you don't make noise. Bring varmint rifle with scope. When they are running don't chase, just wait and they will stop after 50 yards or so. Now you take your shot.

If you have dead eye activated getting them is pretty easy from the horseback. What are you on about ?

Maybe they dont have paint it black ability card. Hey OP you got paint it black ability card?
Buy a varmint rifle. When you get to see the info of each animal, will tell what kind of weapon will give clean kills, and that is for rabbits.
When you find one, usually cause you spook them already, drop from the horse and use deadeye to track the one you want. Crouch and stand again, so you will be moving slowly. When you find it, target the area close their head, call their attention and you have around 1 second of clean shot.

Other things that help:
The scent reducing tonic, but you will probably not be using that often.
Go hunt the Legendary Bulk, to use the horns to make a trinket at Saint Denis fencer.

Consult with Elmer Fudd?

Wow, a lot of advice. Firstly, I am trying to hunt a few rabbits for a few of the Trappers clothing recipes and a few of the upgrades that the guy in your camp can craft for you.

@My Nam Is The Plague - No I do not have the paint it black ability card, what is that?

@BlackCobraFst - If you find them easy to hit from horseback then lucky you. I don't. Just a thought, maybe I will try the next one with KB + Mouse. With a controller it is not easy to het them before your dead eye runs out or you trample the rabbits.

Isn't there a trinket that increases the quality of skins on animals you hunt?

Is the legendary bulk that I mentioned at my post. What it does, is to increase the chance to get better skin from lower quality animal. Like, you can get perfect from 2 stars (good).

@Fuzzyballs01 Auto-target may put your crosshair near the target but not exactly on the head. The problem is that even with dead eye active the rabbit always runs away from you meaning that you are looking at the back of its head with its body blocking and unblocking your view of its head as it runs.

It doesn't matter now anyway. I put a scope on my Varmit rifle and managed to get one perfect skin by tracking one on foot. Two more to go and I can forget about rabbits altogether.

oh, you're on Singeplayer
you can keep playing a bit so that you can paint the targets manually
that way you can hover over the rabbit in dead eye and hit A to paint it's head, then just fire

wait what? you're using a controller and you can't hit them? you literally get auto-aim and you still can't hit a rabbit? WHAT?

Maybe people should just start to use keyboard and mouse for games like this...

There was a time when people laughed about people using a controller on a PC as it is indeed quite laughable.

make sure you are not a millionaire who owns a mansion and a yacht. god i begin to think i am the only one old enough to understand that joke. in all seriousness tho, deadeye and an unscoped varmint rifle should do the trick, tho you might only rarely ever get a 3 star rabbit, or a ragout rabbit the way Kirito did......

Ride on horseback at night using small game arrows. ez kills every time.
