Rock salt and Birdshot shells

I would agree with Twitchey on this one, given the effect of an ordinary shotgun shell on a persons head in RDR2. Birdshot tends not to be as...splatty.

Well this is a game, not real life. I can assure you a birdshot shell from close range turn flesh into chunks.

Depends on the range, and I certainly wouldn't like to be on the receiving end in either case. I would doubt whether birdshot would pulverise a skull quite as readily however.

Also, if not otherwise stated, "shotgun shells" in games tend to be of the buckshot variety. It's sort of the "go to". The same as rifle rounds tend to be FMJ unless otherwise stated. (depending on era of course).

I wasn't trying to be rude or anything, but yes, size of the pellets and number of pellets, and different stat values in game terms, which is more than enough reason to include it, in my opinion obviously. Having them do less pelt damage (or even just less quality damage to birds alone) would also make it worth it. Hunting with a shotgun is quite fun.

This is a game. IRL shotguns do not pulverize skulls. Maybe a suicide by shogun will split your skull in half or pulverize parts of it but thats the powder blast, nothing to do with the pellets or a slug. A blank round would do the exact same thing.

I am fully aware of what firearms will or won't do "IRL", as you put it. "That's the powder blast". I think you mean that's the overpressure, lad, and the projectiles certainly won't help. A blank will kill at close range. I am aware of that as well.
