That's literally what this is though and by doing so makes people want to interact less.
No it's not.
I'm also well aware it's a rant that's why I began " I don't want this to be..." because I knew it was in a way.
If everyone you meet is killing you ( griefing) then maybe it's you because that's certainly not the way my game goes and I see hundreds of people who are not grieving anyone every week. They are just avoiding interaction.
And yes IT IS just a suggestion. I'm not calling for r* to change the game to force interaction or keeping people from swapping servers. Ffs dude learn comprehension.
I never touch them or sell them because idk where they came from. It's been way better since the crackdown on hackers a few weeks ago but I did have it happen a few days ago again.
I'm just asking players to not assume the worse all the time. I often have a full hunting wagon I want to donate to someone.
Perhaps this original post isn't directed at you since online interaction obviously scares you.
This post is more for new players who actually are curious of a massive multiplayer online game in the open world and what it could be if they gave it a fair shake.
Thanks for your feedback and have a great day.
Sometimes other players get close and I get the message that I've changed lobby's due to a such n such error.
But there's plenty of new players who are no doubt getting griefed in different ways that just want to relax, play it their way and not be fekkked with.
Can't blame em.
Edit: Network error was the thing I was after.
Usually I'll say hi and use an emote.
Do you always travel with guns drawn? If I see someone else the first thing I usually do is stow the guns.
I even followed behind a rival's wagon for a bit, waved then moved on.
If someone shoots me I usually just make them feel silly by shooting back and winning until they log off/call a parley, occasionally I'll get someone who is pretty evenly matched to my level of skill and we'll run around blasting each other for a while.
As for your second point I guess I'm just super lucky and don't meet griefers but I do not and will never understand people who buy a mmo who just want to play alone. Isn't that what story games are?
I guess moderators can close this topic because obviously I'm in the minority of mmo players seeking a mmo experience.
Thank you all for the feedback even if I find it sad and disturbing for the future of open world mmos.
I just never find players seeking interaction while in game. In my almost 5 months I've met 2 who spoke to me but at least have met a possy to play with once in a while through the forums. Just a shame the in game situation it is.
Oh well single player mmo it is I guess. It is my first r* game so it seems this is the norm.
I was new and had no idea I was actually taking xp from him which may be what pissed him off. Or maybe he was just a coont.
Learned to just move on and let em have at er.
As far as the mmo thing goes, I'm really not that sociable, but I was drawn to the rp aspect of this game.
I payed for it and I'll play it the way I choose. Not looking for an argument, just saying.
I could have easily dynamited both for a laugh and I'll not say I wasn't tempted but I just said hi and rode alongside them when they got moving (they were both sitting still at the time when I came up on them) text chat would be nice though.
However the dumbest thing I've come across is when another player decides to ride directly into me (I move to the side to avoid them and they move the same way then stop their horse) we both get knocked off, I get a honor drop for 'griefing' and although I immediately say sorry over voice the ass hat shoots me.
We need to be able to keep a list of other players who we've gotten killed, or have killed so we can settle scores after missions.
Kind of like how you could use locator agents in EvE online to find war targets (though they nerfed the friends list by making it mutual so you couldn't use it as an "is this person online" tool which is where I quit despite having a year of game time on both accounts that I can add whenever I want and they went further by making wars harder to start.
If you get into PvP during a mission the timer should freeze.
Rdro is like buying an amazing looking house only to find out that it's filled with termites and built out of painted cardboard. It looks great on the surface but when you take some time to inspect things it's a completely different beast. That's why I'll never pay R* for anything other than the base game as R* seem to rely on kids who have never played an online game to think it's awesome when older MMOs took the gold in terms of PvE and PvP.
