PLEASE stop logging off if you see a player
I don't want this to be a rant or to tell people how to play. It's just a suggestion.
I do not and can't count how many times I see a player that I ride up near ( who I want to help) that disconnects from the server or player at a camp that I come up to donate to that log off immediately.
I understand there are some griefers but this is an online game ffs. There's no way it's just a coincidence that every other time I see someone or a camp that it or they disappear. They are changing servers because they don't want interaction in an online game.
Just now in the last 10 minutes I've had 3 camps pack up and disappear and 1 player ride up near my camp then log off.
Please have some faith in fellow gamers and interact . It makes the game better for everyone and the griefers can do little to you if they kill you other than make you respawn.
It's an online game. Please stop avoiding online contact.
Thank you for listening to my mild rant.

The majority of player-player interaction is griefing and ruining the game for others so it only makes sense players would want to avoid contact with others, i do too. Can't blame them. It's up to them to choose if they want interaction or not, how much and what kind. They're not obligated to let you "help" them.

That's literally what this is though and by doing so makes people want to interact less.

No it's not.

tf why would they do that.
Bealla Donna May 31, 2021 @ 1:48pm
Well I think it's better than randomly one shotting you and then logging off immediately after.

That's just a complete falsehood. The majority of players are not griefers. I have played hundreds of hours and only met a few griefers ever. 99% of the players I meet either log off or don't speak.
I'm also well aware it's a rant that's why I began " I don't want this to be..." because I knew it was in a way.
If everyone you meet is killing you ( griefing) then maybe it's you because that's certainly not the way my game goes and I see hundreds of people who are not grieving anyone every week. They are just avoiding interaction.
And yes IT IS just a suggestion. I'm not calling for r* to change the game to force interaction or keeping people from swapping servers. Ffs dude learn comprehension.

Modded pelts? Is that why I suddenly see pelts show up on my horse?
I never touch them or sell them because idk where they came from. It's been way better since the crackdown on hackers a few weeks ago but I did have it happen a few days ago again.

If you see every player logoff, on me never happen, probably is your connection lost and you go in automatically, during play, in another server.
Unfortunately that is not the case. I don't get the game has swapped server due to error and they don't disappear unless you approach them. I can see players on the radar often. They only disappear when approached. And it's not always. Alot of time people just ignore me but to often they pull the plug on the server because they are scared of a griefer or just don't want to interact.
I'm just asking players to not assume the worse all the time. I often have a full hunting wagon I want to donate to someone.

Exactly happen if you approach the players the disconnect. Common cause.

Honestly i not care about random player donate me. Risk only a ban for modded pelt. Who really want risk? Only because one player want donate :)
Well as a veteran online gamer since 1990 its sad that so many people who buy a massive multiplayer online game only to be afraid of online players.
Perhaps this original post isn't directed at you since online interaction obviously scares you.
This post is more for new players who actually are curious of a massive multiplayer online game in the open world and what it could be if they gave it a fair shake.
Thanks for your feedback and have a great day.

What he said.
Sometimes other players get close and I get the message that I've changed lobby's due to a such n such error.
But there's plenty of new players who are no doubt getting griefed in different ways that just want to relax, play it their way and not be fekkked with.
Can't blame em.
Edit: Network error was the thing I was after.

I've never really noticed this happening.
Usually I'll say hi and use an emote.
Do you always travel with guns drawn? If I see someone else the first thing I usually do is stow the guns.
I even followed behind a rival's wagon for a bit, waved then moved on.
If someone shoots me I usually just make them feel silly by shooting back and winning until they log off/call a parley, occasionally I'll get someone who is pretty evenly matched to my level of skill and we'll run around blasting each other for a while.

Well I know what the changing server message is and I'm not encountering that when these players disappear. Plus my camp usually moves or temporarily disappear when that happens and it's just not the case.
As for your second point I guess I'm just super lucky and don't meet griefers but I do not and will never understand people who buy a mmo who just want to play alone. Isn't that what story games are?
I guess moderators can close this topic because obviously I'm in the minority of mmo players seeking a mmo experience.
Thank you all for the feedback even if I find it sad and disturbing for the future of open world mmos.

Yeah I've followed and helped rival trade or moonshiner wagons. Never got a thank you or anything but they never disappeared...which is why I know it's not a network error problem.
I just never find players seeking interaction while in game. In my almost 5 months I've met 2 who spoke to me but at least have met a possy to play with once in a while through the forums. Just a shame the in game situation it is.
Oh well single player mmo it is I guess. It is my first r* game so it seems this is the norm.

You want people to interact with some players who can just fly in the air, invincible, invisible, force pull or remote bombard from nowhere? Go blame those modders instead
Bloodysod May 31, 2021 @ 3:08pm
Going back a bit, but I once helped another player save some besieged travelers because he seemed to need some help. After the dust settled he walked up and shot me in the face, lol.
I was new and had no idea I was actually taking xp from him which may be what pissed him off. Or maybe he was just a coont.
Learned to just move on and let em have at er.
As far as the mmo thing goes, I'm really not that sociable, but I was drawn to the rp aspect of this game.
I payed for it and I'll play it the way I choose. Not looking for an argument, just saying.

I wouldn't mined playing with you and the other people on here, I get the fear of grifeing/killing, I have also played GTA 5 online as well.

Yeah I actually ran into two rivals with 2 large trade wagons parked side by side.
I could have easily dynamited both for a laugh and I'll not say I wasn't tempted but I just said hi and rode alongside them when they got moving (they were both sitting still at the time when I came up on them) text chat would be nice though.

However the dumbest thing I've come across is when another player decides to ride directly into me (I move to the side to avoid them and they move the same way then stop their horse) we both get knocked off, I get a honor drop for 'griefing' and although I immediately say sorry over voice the ass hat shoots me.
We need to be able to keep a list of other players who we've gotten killed, or have killed so we can settle scores after missions.

Kind of like how you could use locator agents in EvE online to find war targets (though they nerfed the friends list by making it mutual so you couldn't use it as an "is this person online" tool which is where I quit despite having a year of game time on both accounts that I can add whenever I want and they went further by making wars harder to start.
If you get into PvP during a mission the timer should freeze.

Rdro is like buying an amazing looking house only to find out that it's filled with termites and built out of painted cardboard. It looks great on the surface but when you take some time to inspect things it's a completely different beast. That's why I'll never pay R* for anything other than the base game as R* seem to rely on kids who have never played an online game to think it's awesome when older MMOs took the gold in terms of PvE and PvP.
