So, do people use aimbots? (No I don't want one)
So for the second time I've encountered another player (former Eastern bloc judging by the name) who seemed to magically be able to headshot me with a carcano at any range.
Now personally I've been accused (when I was younger and had faster reactions) for "haxxing" in some FPS titles.
I know most weapons have a lock on, however the carcano is scope only and to be consecutively headshotted whilst taking cover multiple times seems a bit sus, especially as the person would have to shoot from the hip to the head, which would be a difficult task, even in free aim with excellent aim using a mouse and keyboard.

I've got into spontaneous PvP with other players and it's been much more balanced with losses either being high for them (probably newer players) or a close to 50:50 KDR.
However I'm trying to wrap my head around the whole carcano noscope thing as something about it just feels off, having used the rifle myself in different scope configs. Headshots straight from the hip on a moving target using cover would be very difficult to pull off and would require extreme (esports) skills to do so in such consecutive order, especially if they land a headshot while the player does a dive to dodge.

Having used aimbots (in an aimbot only wolfenstein abandonware many years ago because a young teen thinks they're a 1337 h4xx0r if they can use simple tools) I know how they immediately snap to a person's head but that's going back more than a decade.

Any similar experiences? I can tell when I'm out matched by skill and it usually involves a player out-playing me by using cover, tonics and other stuff rather than running at me with a carcano and headshotting me every time at really long to super close range.
Something you would have to be a master at free aim and no scoping with the carcano.

Yes they do. Or killing you directly thru mod menu.

I have been killed with headshot when behind the back of the player. Or shot thru the huge ass rock.

But Sniper rifle mechanics also are BS and it's quite much easier to hit with it.

Yes and if there is a hacker in your server, you can tell almost immediately upon joining the server. just join another server.

Technically you are not leaving any server, game doesn't have dedicated servers it only has P2P and R* background server.

Well the events and series almost always have one script kiddie, making them pretty worthless. Can't leave from those without losing all progress and no way to rejoin.

How can you tell?
I've only played a couple of weeks but I can spot when someone is consistently doing something difficult (such as a perfect noscope headshot while I'm diving half behind cover) they're seemingly impossible feats that if done once would be a lucky shot, if done multiple times would be pretty clear evidence that someone is cheating.
Though this is only after fighting them.

I suppose they could even just be router tapping which is a really old way to cheat in peer to peer (and I suppose explaining it isn't going to be a problem as looking it up gives even more detailed explanations on how it works) but it essentially involves you quickly unplugging your ethernet cable (or using software that disables Internet, or a physical switch) to freeze everyone on the map, you kill them which counts as kills on your client side then when you reconnect they all just drop dead as your client says you killed them.
Used to be a huge issue in P2P FPS games when I was a teenager. I'd imagine there would be some sort of protection against it, but RDO continues to surprise me.
It's probably between hack and legal aimbot used by controller players. Don't know for sure unless I experience it myself. Rockstar actually gives RDR2 and its Online a really aggressive auto-aim for controller...

A few seconds showcase of what it really looks like (minute 7:13, can't really find a better video), 1 shot killing animals from a galloping horse. If you use KB+M you know how hard it is..

Auto Aim Dual Mouse Spam in PvP

You can see how smooth are those reticle movements..
And with the right step and a few hours of practice, it becomes a headshot machine even for player that never PvP.

I'm a PC purist and haven't had a controller since forever, now playing RDO only for PvP. After about 700 hours of PvP Showdowns, I would consider myself a good player, but still, when I come across a "good/experienced" controller player, it usually becomes unfairly difficult to face them in 1v1. 3 or more of these "experienced" controller players on the opposing team and I'd rather quit, since KB+mouse players will always be at a disadvantage. Sure I can buy a controller, but then I have a bit too much of pride, it's cheap lol

Auto aim pattern is easiest to recognize with player holding dual mauser, carcano and lancaster even if we don't use it ourselves.. split second headshot + in every time in situations that almost impossible (or bodyshots if using Sniper, as they won't miss the shot at all, even with your zig-zag or similar movements once you're in their scope).. and then there's a Cronus, an undetectable (or probably even legal) autoaim+keys script and device for controller in any video games, combined in games autoaim and you'll be godly..

They should at least remove that ♥♥♥♥♥♥ crosshair bloom for freeaim users.

So my first thought was honestly the Paint it black dead eye card. I use it all the time to snipe people from a mile away, you just aim from the hip, activate dead eye and move your cross-hair across their head then when you see the x, shoot, 100% accurate head-shot. It feels like something everyone uses and with good reason cause it's super powerful

Paint in Black won't work with scope, and you still have to fully manually paint it with mouse

So it's the extreme distance that's the issue? I mean I've headshotted people from a fair distance away with my bolt action aiming down the sights without a scope by using dead aim/paint it black. When someone headshots me with a pistol I just assume they are using PIB or are just good at aiming
