Never put things like Game Clients into Program Files folder structure; as system folder structures like this are bound by the UAC feature.
Never put game clients in OS Startup as this doesn't allow "Run As Admin"
You actually don't 'have to' My steam install is on my E drive and I don't run it as admin.
Then you're games don't run as admin either if you don't launch the game client that way; via a shortcut. This is why so many people have issues because if the client is not ran via Run As Admin, the game won't run that way either, which means the game won't be allowed to then run any redist packages it might need to install.
You do not want UAC fully turned off in Win10; as its require to use Microsoft Store.
However you want to turn the UAC down one notch, so it never pops up using the graphical overlay it uses by default. Install Steam to some place else (along with all game clients); such as "c:\games" or "c:\steam" for example. UAC only affects apps present within the OS system folder structures; such as Windows folder or Programs Files folder.
Yes - my point is that I don't need to run my games admin as I don't have any problems and never ever have.
Again, because if the game client is not run via the Run As Admin option; then nothing launched from the game client will run with the proper admin privileges either. Why is this so hard for folks to understand?
Users who say that game clients do not need to be ran with admin privileges must not be using Win10. Because on Win10 this IS A MUST. It's one reason people get Disk Write Error because the client must be ran with admin privileges to have such rights.
Well, it's funny when this is the only game I've ever played that does this.
